Entry written by Secunia.

In the Dark Reading article ‘Nearly 80% Of All Bugs Are In Third-Party Apps’, Kelly Jackson Higgins draws on some of the key findings from Secunia’s Yearly Report for 2011 by interviewing Stefan Frei, Research Analyst Director at Secunia.

Frei confirms: “What we see is a consolidation, with fewer vendors responsible for more vulnerabilities…Most of the vulnerabilities are highly critical and exploitable.”

The article also highlights the impacts that vulnerabilities and the ever-changing threat environment have on typical organisations. As Secunia identifies, knowing what to prioritise to patch, and when, is critical as the boundaries are continually shifting.
