It is with great pleasure that we introduce the new version of Secunia’s flagship product: The Secunia CSI 7.0.
Version 7.0 is the result of 11 years of developing security solutions that enable enterprises, organizations and private individuals to face the threats posed by known software vulnerabilities.
At the core of Secunia, and at the core of our products, is our in-house vulnerability research and verified vulnerability intelligence.
The intelligence we have delivered to our customers since the beginning comes from the Secunia Advisory and Vulnerability Database - the industry’s largest vulnerability intelligence database in which every vulnerability has been verified, assessed and tested by the Secunia Research Team.
The challenge our customers faced back then, was what to do with all the information we provided. They needed a method for applying all the intelligence to their day-to-day operations.
It is one thing is to know that there is a potential threat to your infrastructure, but it is a completely different issue to know how to act on the information – i.e. to understand which parts of your specific infrastructure is at risk, how to prioritize what to fix, and how to implement the security updates to the system.
This problem is what prompted us to develop our vision of ‘Complete Patch Management’, the result of which is the Secunia CSI, which was first launched in 2008.
The Secunia CSI is a genuinely unique solution because it combines vulnerability intelligence, vulnerability scanning, patch creation and patch deployment integration. This combination of scanning and patching meets the requirements of both IT security and IT operations: Security, who use vulnerability intelligence to assess risks to the organization; and Operations, who work to maintain every aspect of the IT infrastructure to deliver the optimal business vehicle, including applying patches – security updates – to the software.
Since the first Secunia CSI was launched, we have refined the technology that delivers our intelligence and, with the latest version, the Secunia CSI 7.0, we have improved features and functionalities to address the needs and wish of the organizations that rely on our solution. Because each organization is unique, with its own processes, regulatory standards and security procedures, the driving force behind this new generation is flexibility.
The new version can cover hundreds of thousands of hosts and makes it possible to create user accounts with different roles and permissions. The new patch configuration feature means that you can scan and patch without violating your company’s IT policy. As the CSI is now a web-based (SaaS) solution, you can receive reports and data whenever you are connected to the internet, and as it integrates with all your client management systems – not least Microsoft System Center 2012 – it allows you to manage all third-party updates from one console. As of this version, the Secunia CSI also addresses the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) challenge by scanning not only private PCs, but also Android devices .
You can read more about all the new functionalities and features here
We hope you enjoy the Secunia CSI 7.0 – we have been looking forward to introducing it to you.
