It sounds as though my problem is related to this issue. I get the following message from Secunia:

Macrovision Update Service ActiveX Control 1.x
This program has been discontinued by the vendor.
This means that the vendor doesn't support or update it. We suggest you uninstall the program unless you really need it, since there will be no security updates for this program.

When I click on the initial message and ask for details, it mentions this file:

c:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\isusweb.dll

BUT Windows Explorer says the 'Downloaded Program Files' directory is empty.

What now?

You should be able to find the file and delete it using the Command Prompt as an administrator. If you need further help which OS are you using?

Thank you, Maurice, for your prompt response. I am using Windows 10 Home, Version 1511, OS Build 10586.420.

My DOS is very rusty, but with online help I checked the subdirectory and, indeed, found the file and was able to delete it. Thank you very much! Problem solved.
