Failure to detect updates

I scanned my Windows Xp laptop with secunia which showed two threats, both ActiveX controls. I downloaded the recommended patches. today I rescanned with Secunia and the two "threats" were still there. What is going on? Does Secunia not recognise patches? Or am I doing some thing wrong?
