I received a Secunia scan result which advised Chrome 12.x is still detected at
C:\Users\Terry\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Applica tion\12.0.742.122\chrome.dll, version 12.0.742.122
I attempted to open the file from the Secunia window but it did not open.
I then searched for the file but it could not be found.
I also looked in Hidden file and folders and also not found.
Secunia was also detecting the patched 13.x version. (Auto updated)

I decided to uninstall Google Chrome via Control Panel -> uninstall programs.

Secunia continued to detect Chrome 12.x (and 13.x)

I uninstalled Secunia and then reinstalled Secunia and it still detects both Chrome versions, same paths. (Full shutdowns after deletions)

Secunia will not now manual Scan.

No Google Chrome application can be found on the computer.

Computer is Vista 32bit SP2. (not the computer from which this email is sent)

Any suggestions?

Since submitting the above I have uninstalled Secunia 2 and installed 1.5 and full scan took 1min 38secs for 100% score.

Installed Chrome 13.x followed by another full scan - 100%.

Uninstalled Secunia 1.5 and installed Secunia 2. After installation, showed 100% and no evidence of Chrome 12.x

However, it will not do a manual scan of drive C (only C checked in Settings)

Next scheduled scan is 17 Sep. In the absence of advice, I will leave it alone for now as I do not need to use this computer at the moment.

Hello poppytupper ,

Your problem is very similar to the one raised in this thread ; although it refers to an XP SP3 system :-

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/113...

You might wish to read through it and see if any of the measures suggested help you ; in this thread the only "answer" seems to be to go back to version 1.5.0.2 of the PSI and may be your only solution/workaround .

You are not alone as other members are also suffering this "bug" .

Please let us know if you find anything that works for you in getting the PSI vesion 2.0.0.3003 to function correctly .

Sorry not to be more specific for you .

Take care

Anthony

PS : For future refrence , your installation location for Google Chrome is a "hiiden folder/file" .

Thank you for the advice.

As I did not need to use this laptop, I simply left it for a week, turning it on each day so that it could do any auto updating.

I checked it again on the 17th when Secunia was scheduled to do its next scan. Secunia did the scheduled scan (100%). Later in the day I executed a manual full scan which was acomplished as normal.

I do not know if any programs were auto-updated by Secunia during the week (not logging). MS Security Essentials auto-updating and scanning as advertised.

So all appears to be normal now.
