Hi.

I cannot make my PSI to scan. The button "Start scan" just doesn't work, I mean nothing happens when I press it. Any ideas what can be wrong?

Which OS are U using & which version of PSI?

To check your PSI version right click on the PSI tray icon>about.

U are not the only one with this issue but the first to my knowledge using Vista.

Try this:

Older version of the Secunia PSI can be downloaded at:

http://secunia.com/PSI1Setup.exe

This will reinstall version 1.5. Just run it & your current copy should uninstall automatically before installing the new copy.

Once installed check the version is 1.5.

Now try a scan - does that work?

I don't really feel like downgrading my PSI. Is there another way to resolve this issue?

I think your situation is similar to this?

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/113...

If that is the case the short answer is no to another method.

@achilleus
U will note that this thread has been subject to "spamming" with U receiving unnecessary emails.

If there is to be no further dialogue I strongly suggest U lock the thread. To do this just press the ACCEPT button in the post that helped U the most or Secunia Support or I can lock it for U. It will not auto lock until 7 days after the last post entry.

I am having a similar problem. I have the most recent version of PSI. It verifies connectivity successfully but when I start a scan the scan button seems not to work. After a momentary delay it begins to scan then skips from "Downloading search rules..." to "Matching data with..." and then displays a dialog box with the words "Scan Aborted".

FYI I am using PSI 2.0.0.3003 on Win7 Ult. x64

That there is no solution other than downgrading is rather ironic. PSI is all about software updates yet there is no update to fix what amounts to a vulnerability for those users effected by the problem. Secunia are you listening? Please fix this.

Hello @KaoMit ,

Just nit-picking in that the PSI is specifically all about exposing vulnerabilities in your detected programmes and "offering" a suitable source to update/patch .

Version 1.5.0.2 of the PSI is not vulnerable to anything , whilst 2.0.x versions are technically only bug and eye candy fixes ; the main difference being "auto-updates" and ease of use by less technical users (very effective judging from the traffic in this Forum ) .

I do not speak for them , but according to Secunia's stated "philosophy" , I am sure that they will try to find an answer to the "scanning" bug as soon as possible/resources allow for their "free" PSI version 2.0.x programme for the benefit of all users.

Take care

Anthony
