PSI has advised installation of KB2570947 from Microsoft, but Windows Update does not offer the patch. I tried downloading it directly, but the updater reports "this update does not apply to your system." Clearly this is a false positive in PSI Running Windows Vista Business SP2 (Build 6002) |

Hi , I do not run Vista , but it would be useful to another helper to know if you run a 32 or a 64 bit system . The M$ bulletin indicates that the KB applies to Vista SP2 (no specific mention of Business ** version):- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bullet... with a 32 or 64 bit download :- http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?... http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?... Have you cross checked with something like Belarc to see if your system is "missing" an update ?? :- http://belarc.com/free_download.html Anthony Edit :** mainstream support ended ( including 64 bit):- http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=11707 -- It always seems impossible until its done. I am using XP Home. Although alerted by PSI the update appears on my installed programs update list. Should I uninstall this particular patch? -- "And now, to our darker purpose" |

Hello again @CaptSteve , If Belarc and M$update agree that you have the KB installed it is odds on they are correct ; when you say "installed updates" are you looking at the M$updates webpage download history module or in "Add/Remove" in your Control Panel (or it's Vista equvalent) ?? Normally the PSI requires a reboot and a FULL system scan (NOT an individual programme scan) to register any M$ update(s) . Have you done this ?? Anthony Hello @bobceeuk , Not entirely sure that I understand what you are saying ; however , your XP SP3 Home system needs to have KB 2570947 installed . Can you see it in "Add/Remove" in the Control Panel on your computer and/or in the download history at M$updates ?? Is the PSI showing you as fully patched 100% ?? If not , have you rebooted and run a full system scan with the PSI since the M$/Windows updates of last Tuesday ?? Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

Thank you for your response Anthony. The update in question showed up in add/remove programs but when I checked Belarc it had no green tick against it. After rebooting due to another reason I ran another scan and now have a 100% score. I did a reboot after the Tuesday patches but somehow the installation must have hung. All is now as it should be. Thanks Anthony. PSI picked up all the other patches so I assumed it find them all. I had already rebooted, but I'm now running a full system scan. I'll let you know the results. Steven |

Hello Steven and Bob , Glad to hear that you have both of you resolved your problem(s) :))). Thank you for letting us know . Steven , as "owner" of this thread , you might like to know that an M$ KB problem covers many diverse problems , so to avoid an email box full of tag-on posts advisories (plus spam:((() , you might wish to close this thread by clicking on the "Accept" button of any reply you think helped (most) ; if not , it will auto-lock after seven days of silence . Take care Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |
