Started my Win 7/64 laptop for the first time in a few weeks, opened PSI and tried to start a scan manually. No response from Start Scan button. Updated PSI to latest, tried again, same deal. Everything else in PSI box seems to work except that. Any ideas? thanks,

Please check whether you have a virus that prevents psia.exe from starting.

You are advised to run from bootable CD-ROM and scan computer, for the case of rootkits.

When you state you've updated psi to the latest version.....I hope you were'nt referring to the 2.0.0.4002 version as shown in the Changelog......various problems were found to be inherrant; discussed and reported, recently....the advice being at that time...to avoid like the plague !!
You can confirm what version you're using by right clicking on the psi taskbar icon and then About.
2.0.0.3003 is the version to go for.

The current version, the one I pulled off the PSI product page, was 2.0.0.4003. OTOH, my desktop has .3003. (to the other reply, if it wasn't running, I couldn't find that).

Here's something: last night when I ran PSISetup.exe, it wanted to uninstall the existing version, which I allowed, but then nothing more happened. So I ran the setup separately and had the problem reported. Just now, I uninstalled it "completely" with RevoUninstaller, rebooted and reinstalled, and now Start Scan runs fine. So, could there be some glitch in the way PSISetup.exe is handling the uninstall/reinstall process?

Yes - it is a bug with Windows 7 systems which I reported ages ago. Best to use the programme uninstaller via Windows Explorer if U need to repeat the procedure before Secunia fix it.

I have reopened this thread just to thank you for the heads up on a new version.


This page was & still is a complete shambles which I have also previously reported.

1. The download link(s) currently installs version 2.0.0.4003.

2. According to the change log this version & 2.0.0.3003 do not exist so what the update from 2.0.0.4002 to 2.0.0.4003 fixes is a mystery.

3.The current version of release of version 2.0 is not 31st August. That was the release date of the buggy version 2.0.0.4002.

4. I suspect the latest release date is today.

5. I have also asked them to change the release details from 2.0 to give the full description - in this case 2.0.0.4003 so it lessens the confusion.
