Just thought to report that the new 2.0.0.4003 version psi is working okay on my Vista set-up.
Had to do a restart first off to get the taskbar icon to turn green. A little longer to wait to get to verifying internet the first time.
It seems to have cut over a minute off what has been my average scan time, heretofore.

Happy patching !

Evening Maurice.
In my case, as you know, the browsers I use all the time; ( Chrome Dev/Canary ), are not monitored by psi....so I rarely consult with the Secure Browsing facility.
I can't remember exactly what plug-ins were detected exactly for IE9 using the 3003 version, but certainly more than are showing now.....having just checked following your prompt. MS Windows Media Player 11 the only thing showing up. So....no....I'm not suggesting that all is in order in that panel.

Thanks - so they have NOT fixed that bug. Without a changelog it is difficult to know what they have done. I think it fixes the Windows 7 uninstall/install bug - few more tests & report back.

At this point in time I can see no reason for users to update but as promised will run more tests.

Once U read this I am happy to close it - is your thread & not for me to close unless requested. I would suggest U do & let Secunia action it as they deem necessary. I will certainly be unsubscribing after reading any response from U!!!!!!!!!!!!

U have created a central focus on PSI updates so I will transfer this snippet from a post I made earlier.

1. "I have reopened this thread just to thank you for the heads up on a new version.

This page was & still is a complete shambles which I have also previously reported.

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

a. The download link(s) currently installs version 2.0.0.4003.

b. According to the change log this version & 2.0.0.3003 do not exist so what the update from 2.0.0.4002 to 2.0.0.4003 fixes is a mystery.

c.The current version of release of version 2.0 is not 31st August. That was the release date of the buggy version 2.0.0.4002.

d. I suspect the latest release date is today because the programme uninstaller file is dated 24/10/2011.

e. I have also asked them to change the release details from 2.0 to give the full description - in this case 2.0.0.4003 so it lessens the confusion.

Hope this helps."

2. After testing this version has cleared the bug with Windows 7 (32 & 64Bit) so that U are now able to fully update/upgrade without problems.

3. It has not fixed the bug created in version 2.0.0.4002 in that the Secure Browsing page does not populate correctly nor has it fixed the bug in the troubleshoot Report whereby the Operating System is displayed twice.

On that basis I can see no good reason to update until Secunia clarify the situation.

Sorry for the edit.

Hello,

Just for information : I upgraded from version 2.0.0."3003" to "4003" without any problem; after the "automatic" reboot & full scan, everything seems to be working fine.

@throkr

Thank U for confirming that the uninstall/reinstall using Windows 7 now functions correctly as per my point 2. in my post.

By stating this"everything seems to be working fine." are U also confirming that my observations in point 3 are fixed on your PC?

To check open the Secure Browsing page & U will see only one entry ?

If U create a Troubleshoot Report the Operating System will display Windows 7 Windows 7 -

this bug does not appear to affect XP or Vista.

Also, the UI seems to respond slow, especially when resizing the application window.

I know it is a feature. It does not work correctly in version 2.0.0.4002 or 2.0.0.4003 in that it does not populate correctly.

Are U suggesting yours is working using either of these versions?

Looks like Secunia have completed a minor dabble with the webpage as follows:

Changelog

This is the changelog for the Secunia PSI, changes between versions are listed and described here. Click headings to expand details.

Version 2.0.0.4003 (18th October 2011)

This is a minor service release. If you are running Secunia PSI 2.0 without problems then there's no need to upgrade.
Fixed issue which caused the uninstallation/upgrade process to hang.

Windows 7. Yesterday tray icon was red. I tried to run a scan but it wouldn't populate - kept showing 0 0 0. I rebooted PC and all seemed well.

Until today. Once again a red tray icon. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version. Rebooted. All seemed to work. But tray icon remained red. So I requested another scan. And I'm straight back to where I started. It won't populate.

What is going on?

Sally

Sally,
U have slighty lost me. What will not populate? When U say the latest version do U mean 2.0.0.4003?

Yes, version 2.0.0.4003.

I mean it didn't find any of my applications to check for updates. Just showed 0 programs. I tried to scan a few times, but it still came up as 0 programs.

As I was writing this reply I noted that the icon was still red. I opened the program to try another scan and discovered that my 65 programs have now reappeared. I ran another scan and finally all seems right - green icon too.

But this is the second day that this exact problem has occurred. Strange after such a long and trouble-free time. If I have the problem again tomorrow, I'll report.

@ Maurice Joyce

I followed your advice in this topic (http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/115...), so I never installed version 2.0.0.4002 ...
In Secure Browsing, I see (as it was the case before, with version "3003") in my case three lines : IE 9.x, IE 9.x (64-bit) and Mozilla Firefox 7.x, all of them secure for browsing. I also use SRWare Iron but this one doesn't show up yet which is normal : it's not listed neither in the scan results, I still have to suggest it ...

Concerning the Troubleshoot Report ('had to test it first as I never had .....trouble with PSI ;-) ) : yes, it displays Windows 7 twice.

Does all this answer your questions ?
