This is the third morning in a row that upon booting up I find the tray icon is red. I opened PSI and at least it was registering all my programs and history. I initiated a scan but a message came up stating that the scan was aborted.

Sally,
I assume your other problem from yesterday is fixed?

As for this one try this:

1.Right click on the tray icon & select Close Tray Icon.

2. Wait a few moments.

3. Start PSI via Start Orb>All Programs>etc

Has that cured it?

Actually, this is the same problem as yesterday. And the same problem that yesterday's busy thread discussed. I tried your suggestion. But it doesn't work. The icon is still red. And when I start the program it won't let me do a scan at all.

Very interesting.

Try a reinstall from here:

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

Just click the link & follow the prompts - no requirement to uninstall the old version.

Last night I reinstalled. Everything looked OK. So I ran a scan. It took 5 minutes to run, instead of the less than 1 minute it used to take. But at least it did run.

This morning on boot up, the icon is red again. I opened PSI and tried to run a scan. It started scanning but then it aborted itself.

BTW my previous issues were exactly those discusseds in the thread "error message"

I would revert to an older version & see if that functions correctly for a few days.

If U want to try it click here:

http://secunia.com/PSI1Setup.exe

Just let it run & follow the prompts.

I installed the older version. PSI seems to run OK. It scans and even reported a need to update a program, which I did. But even after a second scan, following the update of the insecure program, and even though it then reparted no insecure programs, the icon remained RED. I rebooted, but it just stays red. And now it keeps reminding me that there is a newer version of PSI.

Help.

The update "balloon" is normal - it will not stop nagging U until U upgrade.

I have asked a Secunia Official to look at this thread when time allows.

You do not by chance use an alleged Registry Cleaner? If so which one?

I use Ccleaner. Have done for years. But it only cleans the registry when I ask it to. The last registry clean I ran was done days before my problems with PSI started.

Hi all

@pigasus if you installed a older version
of the PSI i.e. v.1.5.0.2 the color of the tray icon
never changes regardless of score-it only displays in RED.
Hope this helps.

@wr
How are U. Thanks for that I had forgotten. Hopefully Secunia Support can offer some advice on getting the new version working for her.

@Maurice

Thanks for asking--doing just fine as I hope you are too. Don't answer many technical inquiries anymore-just 'lurk' & 'read' mostly.

Hopefully a solution to Sallys problem
will be found soon. This icon display color &
Scan starting in w7 seems to be as big a 'bug'
as the Scan starting 'bug' in XP, but with a
different solution i'm sure.

Take care & keep up the good work.
Regards, wr

Hi,

Please go to Control Panel -> Administration -> Services.

Then check if the "Secunia Update Agent" is set to Started and Automatic.

Hope this helps.
