I get this error message "Update delayed - program is in use" and PSI 2.0 doesn't seem to get past this, despite QuickTimePlayer.exe not being in Task Scheduler list.

This occurred with a number of programs. PSI reports itself as 2.0.0.3001.

Any idea what this might be?

Have you got a QuickTime icon in the System Tray?
Have you closed all browsers?

I had exited all browsers. There's no QuickTime icon in systray.

I'd update it from Edit > Preferences in QuickTime

Hi,

I changed the criteria in the check to see if the program is running.

Does it work now if you run a full rescan and try again?

No, with 2.0.0.3001 the new rules after rescan produced the same result.

The program said "Scheduled update" or so and then after some time:

"Update delayed - program is in use"

Then I tried to upgrade PSI 2.0 to newest version (from 2.0.0.3001 to 2.0.0.4003), but it had broken auto-update completely.

(I have Antivir 2012, SuperAntiSpyware and PrevX installed. I have seen auto-updates working before on my system. Recently I had installed SmartDefrag and latest PerfectDisk. My system is WinXP SP3)

I wondered if psi log can help:

P.S. reverting to PSI 2.0.0.3003 didn't resolve the issue.

After browsing through logs myself, I've found these offending lines in sualog.txt:

Now it worked for me, the

"The Secunia Update Agent could not be installed V Manual install"

messages disappeared, and "Approve update" appeared. then it background automatically installed Quicktime update to a fair version.

Alas, then after just few seconds the nasty message "The SUA could not be installed" from above re-appeared on all programs with Automatic update approved.

Any idea?

Thanks for help this far. I find Secunia PSI use very rewarding apart from minor quirks.
