Noticing my icon on toolbar was red, opened psi to find the last scan was 11 days ago. The report shows 100%. But when trying to run a scan 3 sec. in it aborts. Did updates for windows. I still can't run a scan. What to do?

After changing compatibility. Rather that made a difference. I don't know. Also after doing the windows update. I didn't restart PC. After all changes and rebooting. Everything is green, scans. And its all good.

Same problem, but I have restarted my computer several times since I first noticed that the "next scan" should have happened several days ago. PSI accepts "Start Scan" and shows the first step - "scan started" but the scan progress reports "no scan in progress, and the "downloading search rules" never activates.

I don't know how to use the log info, but here are the entries for the past several hours:

Perhaps someone there can tell me what the problem is (and how to correct it!)

@dmshiff: I'm sure that you'll get help soon. This has happened to quite a few others, including me.

In the meantime, I suggest that you look at the other threads on the topic. They may not help you resolve this problem but they'll give you an idea of what's happening.

Today, about 2 hours after I turned on my computer, I received the first automatic weekly scan report I have seen in 3 weeks - and now everything seems to be working. The only thing I did in the way of maintenance was a Spybot S&D update and scan that found one "flash cookie" that I removed.

I wish I could report how I fixed it, but all I CAN report is that it works now.

Glad everything is all good. Who knows what our real issue was. Or if we even fixed it. It's good to put it onl the thread for others to see, and comforting to know were not the only one with issues.
