For some reason the tray icon in PSI v2.0.4003 turned red from green last week even tho no new programs or MS patches were installed.

Upon running scan within PSI, i noticed it has not auto-scanned since Dec 7 even tho it was scheduled to perform the scan on Dec 14.

The tick boxes in turn all go green until it aborts @ 'Matching data with Secunia File Signatures engine' with a popup saying "Scan Aborted" "OK"

Then all tick boxes are greyed out, except 'Determining Microsoft security patches', which remains green.

The scan message is:
Message:
Scan executed successfully (ID: 2000).

then the following steps are done:

uninstall/reinstall = same result
reverting to previous version = same result
running online OSI = two different scan results -
IE6 and OE6 patches missing
then, after reboot, re-run OSI = no patches anywhere missing.

Then re-run PSI and same result - red tray icon and see above.

Confused and dismayed now as these are the first errors PSI has ever given me since the very first beta release, which is excellent and PSI been trouble free til now

XP-64 SP2

Hello.
Have you first checked to verify all your settings/configurations are in accordance with those in the FAQ's here ?:-http://secunia.com/products/consumer/psi/faq/#s3 Please note those for XP towards the end .
When you install psi do you let it remove the older file/version.....having cleared out temp. files etc., beforehand ?
OSI does not monitor as many progs as psi.....any results are best not compared.

Before running a scan......check for MS updates as follows :-

When updating Microsoft Applications, it is a good idea to keep in mind that some Microsoft Updates do not "kick in" until after a reboot. Therefore, it is recommended to try following this procedure when installing Microsoft Updates:

1) Check Microsoft Update: install all security-related patches
2) Reboot
3) Repeat step 1: repeat step 2 if anything was installed at this step
4) Run a full rescan with the PSI

Please let the forum know how you get on.

Hope the foregoing is of some help....regards,

Try this:
Right click on the tray icon & select Close Tray Icon.

Now restart PSI via Start>all Programs ....

Now open PSI>dashboard>Configuaration>Settings>drives

Can U see a list of drives with a box to the left of C with a tick (checkmark) in it?

Do you get a clean bill of health if you run CHKDSK on your C drive ?

I can't think of too much else to try.....are you familiar with Revouninstaller ? Using it you could uninstall : it has various levels to advanced; for left over entries. I've noticed in the past that sometimes a change of versions has resulted in conflicts which it might thoroughly eradicate before doing a fresh install. If you wish, I can give you the link for the free version...which also has other uses.
Another possibility.....are you able to scan if you revert to an older version of psi available from here ? :-

Thank you, that would be great if you can.

Well, well, well... this WORKS
Many thanks - however, we still need to resolve the sudden failure (since Dec 14) of PSI v2.4003/3003

If you go to the bottom of the following page you will be able to download the free 1.93 version of Revouninstaller. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_fr...
It has many other uses for Junk removal etc.....When uninstalling with it; I usually choose Advanced and remove as many "jig-saw pieces" as possible.
Glad you can at least scan for the time being.
