According to MS, Silverlight 4 is supported through January 8, 2013.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean45#sl4
How can Secunia declared it as EoLed while the vendor in fact still supports it?

Hi there. I have had major problems repling using the "be the first" link - it keeps saying the usual "page cannot be displayed".

So I hope that you see this and then look at http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/118...

as you seem not to be the only one affected!

Good hunting.

Alica,
The two posts attempting to answer your direct question to Secunia Support are misleading.

It may be better if U switch to this thread for more information:

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/118...

In a nutshell:

1. Secunia have now removed the End of Life notification from version 4.0.60831.0.

2. My tests reveal that they have also removed version 4 from the scanning process - as U will note in the dialogue this is ongoing.

3. If U want to take advance of the enhancements made to Silverlight U can download the latest version from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

4. Microsoft manage Silverlight via Windows update. Provided U have all the Silverlight hot fixes installed version 4 is secure & not End of Life as U correctly point out.

Alica,
An update. Secunia have changed their scanning rule. If U complete a full PSI rescan version 4 should now show as patched.

On that basis I will lock this thread for U in a few hours time unless U post back asking for it to be left open.

This will protect your mail box from possible update emails from Forum "tag on" posts

You can of course lock your own threads yourself. Just click the ACCEPT button in the post of the helper who offered U the best solution/advice to solve your problem.

Secunia Support can always reopen threads by applying by email to: support@secunia.com

Alica: Maurice is right as he is the teccie chap here. But I do not agree that I misled you with this link:

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/118...

because it still hasn't been resolved, and there has been another query since!

But follow MAurice's advice.

With respect Alica is asking one simple question to Secunia Support.

Why have they declared Silverlight version 4 End of Life when Microsoft clearly say it is not.

That problem has been resolved by Secunia changing their database.

Your links point to a possible broken link & icon within PSI that affects anyone wishing to use it for any vulnerable programme not just Silverlight & a minor updating issue to version 5 which appears to be a one off incident now resolved.

None of these are remotely associated with why Secunia declared Silverlight End of Life when it is not.

Looks very misleading to me.

Okay, after a rescan the Silverlight 4 issue resolved and PSI displayed SL4 as Patched/Up-to-date.

Thanks for the correction by Secunia staff.
