running PSI 2.0.0.4003 as a reinstall, after a uninstall to correct registry problems, although the scan has been run as normal and 1 program patched i.e. 100% updated, the tray icon stubbornly remains red. Have used the work-arounds suggested in forums (close tray, restart, reboot etc) but still got red tray icon.

Working on Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 and IE9, v 9.0.8112.14621 both fully patched.

Any ideas from forum or Secunia welcomed.

Thanks

@xjklt

Have you tried the following, suggested by a Secunia official in October ? :-

Can you try to do the following:

1. Deselect the "Startup the Secunia PSI on boot" option.
2. Wait a couple of minutes (5 just to be sure)
3. Select the "Startup the Secunia PSI on boot" option.
4. Reboot your computer

Hopefully the psi_tray.exe is launched after the reboot.

Hope it helps...else it's a matter of scouring the forum for further suggestions......regards,

Thanks for info.

Tried it but no change in tray icon.

Even tried a complete uninstall, a registry clean, and a clean reinstall. Same issue - red tray icon although 100% patched.

Thanks anyway

chkdsk run and ok.

What is odd though is that when I look at windows defender startup programs PSI is listed as PSI_Tray.exe @ location startup\Secunia\PSI Tray.lnk BUT has a much older installation date (oct 2011) and is showing as 'not yet classified'.

All other functions of PSI seem to be working ok.

What I did last time I re-installed ...which has resulted in psi working perfectly on Vista....was to remove psi using Revouninstaller. Tho'...it has meant that it removed more than a conventional uninstall and I now run psi as unregistered until such time as the Recover Profile feature is working properly.
Having checked the dates of the install....just....all tallies as 15/2/12.
If you need any info regarding Revo.....please ask.

yes please. I have the feeling that uninstalling has left something. Is Revo a safe tool for uninstalling?

Thanks

@xjlt

Many on the forum are aware of Revo....some use the Free version and others the Pro. I've not had any problems with it, having used it many times.
It has different levels which can be chosen to uninstall....up to Advanced....when it checks thoroughly for left overs. What you have to be careful with, is the checking of items for removal....it will remind you of that anyrate.
The Free version 1.93 can be downloaded from here :-
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_fr... See bottom of page.
Much more info. on site.

Hope it helps........regards......
