I am tired of this topic, and, I found, probably hundreds of posts, and many threads on the subject.. My latest post was three weeks ago, and, all threads are locked. I have had a single "vulnerability", in my system, no matter what I did. And, you can guess which one it is. This morning same thing. I have the same version, installed, which comes with the PSI fix. So, I did some search in the OpenOffice newsgroups, and, found out, that my problem, of being unable to check for updates is due to a defect of v.3.3. A post stated that there will be no improvement till v.3.4 comes out. I have tried to keep my machine secure, but, I think that there have been enough issues in this case, that PSI could attempt to be informative. This has been going on for too long a time. |

Secunia has packaged a fix for the v3.3 vulnerability. Instead of waiting for the transition of the OpenOffice.org project from Oracle to Apache Software Foundation (through the incubator) and the 3.4 release, you could just select "Download Solution" from within Secunia PSI, apply the patch/run the downloaded "OOo_3.3.9567.500.exe" and finally re-scan the program within PSI. This clears the vulnerability mark. I have just tested this successfully with OOo 3.3.0 (soffice.exe 3.3.9556.500) + Secunia patch. 100% score and green status in PSI after this. My own experience is exactly the same. I am also tired of searching for a solution. Taking the thread's comment on 3.3 being defective and having to wait for 3.4 to be issued at face value, I feel that this information should be immediately available on appropriate Open Office web pages. Frankly, I do not understand your critique against Secunia - they give you and me free software to identify vulnerabilities on our computers and they even wrap up a fix so that you can automatically remedy this. That's great in my opinion. I have tried the solution and it works perfectly, see my earlier comment in this thread. | ||||||||
