According to Secunia PSI scan, Open Office is insecure. When I select the "Install solution" option it downloads and saves the update file to my desktop. But it will not open. If I open the program itself and tell it to check for updates, after a long search it tells me the search for updates failed. I have the free version of this program and I'm thinking it must have something to do with that. Can anyone advise me? And if I am unable to obtain an update to the free program, is it safe for me to use? It shows: C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3\program\soffice.exe, version 3.3.9556.500 Latest Version - patching one or more vulnerabilities: 3.4 |

Looks like there is some kind of solution here: http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/126... EDIT - I do not use Open Office but it looks like this is the site to download your version http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html#test... -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Hi , The internal OOo programme link to check for/update and possibly that of the PSI are/have been problematic during the transfer of control of OOo from Oracle to Apache . The link posted by Maurice for version 3.4 is the correct one from Apache ; hopefully the internal updater will be coorectly enabled in the (new) 3.4 platform . I have registered with Apache and they sent me 3 email advanced warnings of the update last week (on the 16th of May) and which also included an "update" link . Here is a copy of previous email info from Apache on signing up :- QUOTE : If you wish to continue to receive occasional email updates from the project, for new releases, etc., then please subscribe to our announcement email list by sending an email to: ooo-announce-subscribe@incubator.apache.org. Information on other mailing lists for the project can be found here: http://incubator.apache.org/openofficeorg/mailing-... UNQUOTE. Hope that is clear . Just click the ACCEPT button in the post of the helper who offered U the best solution/advice to solve your problem.
