PSI scan shows ResHacker as discontinued program. I did find a download at Softpedia for a version 3.6.0.92. What spooks me is the location of this file in Windows/system 32. I guess I am wanting to know what I should do with this. Should I uninstall?
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\SwInit.exe, version 11.6.4.634

Also, why does Secunia show that an update is scheduled for Shockwave Player, however, I have already been waiting for 2 days and no update has yet been applied.

This should clear shockwave.

SHOCKWAVE

1. Uninstall Shockwave for your OS from the clearly marked link below:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates...

2. Reinstall Shockwave from here:
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

3. If you wish to test your new Shockwave Player the link is:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

4. Complete a full PSI rescan. That should have cleared the problem? If not, please publish the troubleshoot report as outlined here:

Thanks Maurice. Do you have any advice on this Resource Hacker item?

I'm working from two computers. This is my desktop, and then I have an older laptop with XP Professional on it that I cleaned up for my grandson to use for his games. It is on that computer that this Resource Hacker item came up in the scan.

Yes - sorry,

Having looked at the details of the programme I would uninstall it if Secunia are stating it is End of Life.

If U decide to go for the update option try to find a download site other than CNet (they sometimes bundle add on's) or Softpedia who use 5 tracking cookies on their site.

Based on what I've read about it online, I think I will just uninstall. Thank you for the advice.

I'm sure I won't have any trouble with the Shockwave deal. I just don't understand why, when I have it set to update automatically, it doesn't perform that action.

I am having trouble on that older laptop with this Resource Hacker. When I first seen it on the PSI scan I went to add/remove programs and I swear to you it was in the list. Now I went to uninstall and it is not there. I went to C/Windows/system32/ViTrans and it's in there but there is no uninstaller.

Please don't send the men in white coats after me, but how can I uninstall it if I can't find an uninstaller?

DELETING A FILE OR FOLDER USING PSI VERSION 2

1. Open PSI>Scan results.

2. Against the programme marked as vulnerable is a + sign to the left of it.

3. Click that & it will reveal DETECTED INSTANCES.

4. Below that are two yellow folders. Click the one WITHOUT a red dot.

5. That will open Windows Explorer & U will be able to see the vulnerable file.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\VITrans\ResHacker.exe, version: 3.5.2.84

6. Right click on that file & select delete.

7. Carry out a full PSI scan & all should be in order.

There are actually 4 items within that folder which is labeled VITrans. Do I remove only the ResHacker.exe Resource viewer, decompiler & recompiler file?

The others are uxtheme.dll Microsoft UxTheme Library; vi.sif SIF File; vitrans.rcp RCP File.

I went ahead and removed only that ResHacker.exe file and then did another scan with PSI and it scanned 100%.

I didn't know for sure if all the files in that folder were for this ResHacker or not. Do I not have to be concerned about deleted something like that dll file?

U now have a list of files that clearly will help with identification if U want to delete them. They are minor dross - the main thing is that U have removed the exe file hence PSI cannot now find it on any scan & has returned U to 100%.

Sorry, Maurice. I have not been on the computer for a couple of days. I went back to that folder, Windows/system32/ViTrans and it was no longer even there. I thought the ViTrans folder should still be there since there were still items in there which I had not removed, but it's gone so guess I will not worry about it.

Thanks for your help.
