I have installed this update several times and every time I get the message that it has been correctly installed. It appears in my downloads (several times, as I have tried many times). But I keep getting the message that I have new updates to install and it is always this one. |

Don't have an answer to this KB954430 but have the same problem. It has been going on for months. Shows up with the Secunia scan. Just can't seem to get it really installed and cleared from the scan and the yellow shield from my toolbar. Frank |

I have that service pack number installed on my following system Windows Vista "Home Basic"
Service Pack 1
MAXML 4.0 SP 2
AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core Processor4000+2.10GHz
2GB Ram 32 bit OS
Interesting: have you looked through other forums:
Forum Thread: Verifying Security Certificate
Forum Thread: XPXP
Have you checked your add/remove and verified that the service pack was installed? You can go to the Microsoft down load center and see what they say. OR try one of these collected fixes from other forums
You are probably dealing with a third party install e.g. anti virus, game, something you have down loaded. This program is using a platform that has become vulnerable and thus the warning. To locate who or what is using that program. 1:It may be that you need to update with that program, run a scan and see if it corrects it.2:To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
advanced interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the entry of the programme to “expand” it.
* Click on Technical details to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file. 3: you may have an incomplete uninstall of a program which secunia is finding partial files of. 4: You may have to remove the program entirely from add/remove and if it is a program you want, then create a ignore rule. 5: It could be the privacy issue with your browser If it is mozilla disable all add-ons "all" and then do your downloads or use the "temporairly allow this page" before doing your downloads 6: If you use multipul browsers then you must update with each browser i.e.Mozilla & IE8 (most common)7.You may be experiencing problems with your fire wall try to update with firewall off and back on when through.
based on wr's proposal: here is a quote from Microsoft downloadsFrequently Asked Questions: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 RC and ...
... Update there will be one pre-required package to install, Servicing Stack Update (KB955430 ... that Service Pack 1 is equal to or higher than nearly all dimensions of Windows XP ... |

1. Using Microsoft update hid KB 954430 so that it was not reoffered
while found a solution. Hid it because do not like turning off
automatic update. Turning off the Automatic update would give the same
result. Make sure you remember to turn it back on. :-)
2. Downloaded MSXML4-KB954430-enu.exe from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang...
3. Deleted MSXML4-KB954430 using Add Remove program in control panel.
4. Installed MSXML4-KB954430-enu.exe by clicking on it.
KB954430 has not been reoffered ever since.
