Yesterday we applied some Microsoft updates to our WSUS server; the build number of the WSUS was changed to .251
We no longer are able to create update packages with the CSI agent: we get the error message \"Failed to create package\" (or similar).
In the Secunia log file we find an error message:

\"Failed to create package: : -2147352567 , In 'UpdateServer.invoke'
Code: -2146233079
UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.Publishe r.LoadPackageMetadata(String sdpFile)
bei Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.UpdateSe rver.GetPublisher(String sdpFile)
bei plugin.DotNetWrapper<Microsoft::UpdateServices: :Administration::IUpdateServer>.invoke(DotNetWr apper<Microsoft::UpdateServices::Administration ::IUpdateServer>* , PluginBstr* name, Arguments* args, PluginMarshal* marshal)
\"
(the WSUS client still has build number .226)

-> Does anyone else know the problem?
-> Where can I get an update for the WSUS client (.226 -> .251)?
-> What else could I do to fix the problem?

Last edited on 13th Jun, 2012 10:49 I experienced the same problem. When I read your posting, I looked for WSUS updates (done automatically) and found a new one from 9th of June. But it only was installed to the server and not to the client pc, where CSI is running on (and WSUS mananagement console). I manually downloaded and installed the update (KB272011) and after a reboot voilá it´s working fine again.

Regards, Knut

Correction: The right hotfix is KB2720211

Last edited on 13th Jun, 2012 14:25 Problem resolved!

We received help from Secunia (Milan Koppen)

On the client computers used for package creation the following Microsoft patch must be installed:

www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2 9999

(this is the link to a 64 bit version)

Hi
we are encountering the same issue. Tried to reinstall the KB but this does not solve the problem and I still get the error message.
Anyone has some ideas on how to fix this?

Correction:
As I did not read the article properly i did not check the client side but the server.
This fixes it.
Thanks
