Hi,

is it possible to turn of the function that secunia psi downloads the new version of a program automatically?

Example:

Today there is an update for "pidgin" (it's an IM). Secunia reports that - good service. Seconds later secunia starts the auto-download for the new version of pidgin. I cannot cancel that and there is no option to stop this automatism.

What source does secunia use for this download? The update-server of the manufacturer?

I really like to do a manual update - so I know the origin. I just need the hint of secunia that there are new versions available - but no auto-download!

To which location does secunia safe the installer if it downloads something?

Sincerely,
Julian

Hi ,

AS I remember , this has already been reported in the Forum and it is maybe going to be considered a "bug" by Support ; even if the User Manual is quite specific :-

QUOTE
Scanning
Click Scan now (first time scan) or Scan again. The Secunia PSI will automatically detect insecure programs and download the required patches. If you selected Install updates automatically these are installed automatically without further user interaction.

EDIT. Here is the relevant thread :-

More work for you , Maurice !!

Take care

Anthony

hi!

Will.Rubin: If I say don't update automatically PSI should take that to mean don't download updates either!

yeah, this would be really nice! I hope you can change it in upcoming versions.

Sincerely,
Julian
