Hello, I think I need some help. I'm using PSI 2.0 (for a year or so) and Windows XP These problems occured today: - The tray icon remains dark red (as opposed to change into light red). - Everytime I open the program, the same welcome window pops up, giving information on the program itself (as if I would use it for the first time). - After scanning NO checked programs are listed, the "scan-result" listing remains empty - The entry in the "last & next full system scan" section is N/A, as if PSI has forgotten the last run and when to do the next automatic scan, too - The entry in the "Scan message" section reads: Scan executed successfully (ID:2000), which is not really true, because the results are: 0 insecure progams (usually up to 5 or something) 0 end of life programs (usually the same 2) 0 patched programs (usually many) Can anybody please help me with this? Thank you. |

Have a look at the thread: https://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/13... I have posted a possible workaround that U may wish to try. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Same problem here with 2.0.0.4003 . And, items mentioned at other thread appear to be applicable only to version 3. |

U can carry out those checks & try to activate SUA.exe in version 2. Have U tried the solution or are U just making a comment? If U tried what happened? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Thank you very much. Indeed, SUA was not started. Is there any hint as to why this is? After I started it manually everything seems to be working. Thanks again Rüdiger |

"1. Are the drives showing & enabled in the PSI settings? Open PSI>Settings>then mouse over "Scan Individual Drives" - do they show?" There is no "Scan Individual Drives" displayed on v2. There is a "Drives" tab there, which shows the "C" drive being checked. "2. Is SUA showing in Services & running? Start Orb>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services - is SUA present & running?" SUA is not present there. "3. Is SUA installed? Right click start orb>Open Windows Explorer>C:\Program Files (x86) or Program Files>Secunia>PSI - double click on PSI & SUA.exe should be showing in the right hand pane." SUA is present, but not running. Manually launching it does allow scan to function, but does not register it as a Service, so that, at next reboot, problem will return. FWIW, this just started after Microsoft's Patch Tuesday updates were applied. Causal or coincidence? |

Sorry, cannot help on that score. What is clear is that U and many others noted a change in PSI's behaviour after the latest Windows update. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Uninstalled 2.0.0.4003; reinstalled it. Problem persists. Uninstalled 2.0.0.4003; reinstalled 2.0.0.3003. Problem persists. In both cases, SUA did not get registered as a service. Problem is version agnostic. As temporary workaround, will add SUA to Startup folder. Followup: Added SUA to Startup folder, re-booted, and it reappeared in Services, with Startup entry being ignored; i.e., not present in Registry Hive. Most peculiar. |

Recv'd about a dozen Windows updates yesterday, and after a reboot I noticed the PSI icon (VERSION 2 NOT V3 which I can't stand) missing from the taskbar notification tray. Not the first time this has happened, but not the same issue as earlier this year. Tried launching PSI2 from my Security Apps folder short cut I'd created during said earlier issue with the icon disappearing or staying red all the time. PSI hung on the "attempting to validate internet connection." Downloaded & reinstalled PSI Ver. 2, Rebooted. Same problems (no icon and hanging while phoning home) but finally after several tries PSI's window opened. Interesting that the reinstalled app "remembered" when my last scan was... which registry key doesn't Uninstall uninstall? However, it was a bit troubling that it couldn't find any of my over 200 software apps during a 15 minute scan! WTF? Came to the forum to find I'm not the only one with this issue and others mention the flurry of MSFT updates. Tried a variation of Maurice's workaround by going into PROG Files (x86) and directly trying to launch sua.exe and psia.exe - ephemeral dos command windows showed, then disappeared, while psi_tray.exe did nothing and psi.exe launched the app but still was hanging at: "trying to validate internet connection." I left it up and trying to validate and after 10 or 15 minutes the PSI 2 scan window opened. It rediscovered all my applications and I ran a scan and was alerted to the now-weekly insecurities with the ever-changing Adobe apps. Happy ending? Who knows? |

I am having the same problem. Secunia runs but finds NO programs, and has lost the history of scans. I am NOT as computer savvy as you people here obviously are, so please don't ask me to 'frankle the congoleum to the 9th degree' because I won't know how to do that. I have Vista SP2 and this started after recent Windows updates. Is there anything I can do besides waiting for an update to correct this? |

Tray app didn't show up because, unlike PSI and SUA, which are launched as services via MSCONFIG, PSI Tray is a separate app launched via shortcut in the All Users Startup folder. Any time that it's not visible, check Task Manager, kill the process if it's running - it almost certainly will be - and relaunch via Programs/Startup shortcut. IMO, this is not a Secunia problem, as the same is observed with other apps as well. Apps are running, but tray icons intermittently vanish with no apparent pattern. |

As the thread opener I just wanted to inform you that after I started the SUA manually yesterday once, everything works fine (until now). In the meantime I (re)booted my PC several times and PSI runs ok. Thank your for your help Rüdiger |
