What is the secret to getting PSI 2.0 to successfully auto-update Flash? Every time i click on "Approve Update", after PSI has finished downloading the file I get the message "Update delayed - program is in use". This is with no browsers open, no version of flash is running, and no Adobe programs or processes appear to be running at all. In fact, the ActiveX version of Flash is particularly problematic. Even doing a manual download and installation from the Adobe website in IE fails. Maybe it's because PSI is running?

Also, when I do finally get it update (sometimes jumping through many hoops), PSI invariably tells me I have a "zombie installation". PSI always points to the same folder as the patched version. However, the file it tells me is the zombie installation (in this case Flash32_11_3_300_257.ocx) actually does not exist in the folder. Would really like to know what's going on here...

TIA.

PSI 2 does not use Flash. There are all sorts of issues raised on this Forum regarding Adobe Flash - much quicker to do it the traditional manual way.

Details here if U want to clear the issues.

UPDATING THE STANDALONE ADOBE FLASH PLAYER

1. Download & SAVE these to desktop.

IE & Other Browsers using the Trident Rendering Engine.

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/curren...

& then here, if U have any other type of browser that does not have Flash embedded.

http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/curren...

2. The installer will appear on the desk top. THE IMPORTANT BIT - Before agreeing to install Flash check these programmes are completely shut down (use the Task Manager if necessary (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) to COMPLETELY EXIT these processes if running)):
a. All Browsers.
b. Windows Messenger.
c. Microsoft Skype & Plus For Skype
d. Incredimail.
e. All Adobe Products.
f. PSI - Unless using version 2 or version 3

3. The new install will then remove all old files during the update process.

4. Complete a full PSI rescan & all should be in order.
EDIT: The latest version is 11.4.402.265 which may not show after a scan - I have just asked Secunia to add it to their database

Optional - Go to Start>Control Panel>click the Flash Player (32 Bit) icon>check the settings are to your requirements.
