I was informed by Secunia that I have version Microsoft XML core service {MSXML) 4. X was 4.20.9876.0 while the latest version including on or now security is 4.30.2100.0 please advise how to download this new version can't seem to locate it. Thanking You Jan406 |

UPDATING MSXML 4.0 MSXML4 was shipped as an independent, downloadable SDK targeted at Independent Software Vendors and third parties. It is an upgrade for but not a replacement to MSXML3 as version 3 still provides legacy features. Versions 6,4 and 3 may be run concurrently. MSXML 4.0 SP3 is the most recent version released in March 2009. SP2 support expired in April 2010. The download link (clearly marked MSXML.MSI - 2.0 MB) is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx... Please note this SP was released before Windows 7 was produced therefore there is no mention of compatibility - it works flawlessly with Windows 7 on both 32 & 64 Bit systems Now run Windows Update - there are some additional patches for SP3. Once installed run a full PSI scan & PSI will pick it up as secure with version 4.30.2114.0 Update 1 20:23 22/08/2012 -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

So why has it taken so long for Secunia to pick this up and why does this not show up when running Microsoft update? I'm leery to install without more information. | ||||||||

This does not work cannot when downloading a caption comes on the bottom of the screen msxml4 sp3 release note htm 50.1kb from download microsoft.com I tried to download, & tried to update but it is telling me their are no updates & I keep downloading the same thing with the same message it is not working, please advise. jkenny2962@aol.com | ||||||||

I tried downloading this on the site they gave me but it does not work & the updates state their are none cannot download this service pack on this site why I do not know, microsoft is a horror already, why are their so many problems with it when they are supposed to be the security for our computers. | ||||||||

Could someone tell me why microsoft has so many problems & why I installed this so many times & it is doing nothing & the secunia patch is still saying it is unsecure. | ||||||||

the problem is still not solved why does microsoft have so many problems they are supposed to be the security for our computers to protects us, Service pack 4.0 is still not installed, & secunia is still saying their is a unsecure patch. The information listed on secunia where it shows you the unsecure patch is not the right download to install it does not work. I have vista windows I tried downloading the correct one, with no luck, pleas advise jkenny2962@aol.com |

Hi Maurice: Thanks for the link to the MS XML 4.0 SP3 download. PSI detected the old (unsupported) SP2 v. 4.20.9876.0 yesterday so I ran the msxml.msi installer you recommended on my 32-bit Vista Home Premium SP2 machine. Windows Update then installed the KB2721691 patch (published July 2012) to bring MS XML 4.0 up to v. 4.30.2114.0. A re-scan with Secunia PSI v. 2.0.0.3001 shows that my system is 100% secure again.
