I’ve just run PCMatic (from PCPitstop). When I restarted my PC afterwards, WinPatrol came up with five alerts that it had detected “the Windows Remove, Repair or Uninstall function has been removed for a program with the following name. This may indicate that the program was removed by malware or just a normal update which is OK. If you did not make changes related to this program it may need to be reinstalled and your system checked for harmful files.”
All of the programs concerned are Security Updates for Windows XP:
KB2653956, KB2659262, KB2676562, KB2686509 and KB2695962.
I’m pretty confident that I have no harmful files but where/how can I check that all five programs have been removed by a “normal update”? I confess that I haven’t got a clue where to start!
(I haven't forgotten my MSMXL problems thread - I'll get back to that later this morning, when I’ll have more time and also when I'll be able to get on my laptop!)
