I'm running PSI 2.0.0.3001 on a Win Vista PC and I've noticed that Firefox is listed twice under Secure Browsing when I expand the Mozilla Firefox browser to view all my installed plugins and extensions. The path for both entries is identical - C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe. My firefox.exe version is currently v. 15.0.0.4619.

This duplicate entry for Firefox first appeared a few days ago when I was using FF 14.0.1 and is still there now that I've upgraded to FF 15.0.

Not a serious problem, but I was wondering if any other PSI 2.x user is seeing the same thing.

Hi ,

My PSI 2.0.0.3003 on XP SP3 displays one each only of Chrome 21 , IE8 and Firefox 15 browsers ; even if the CHrome display is based on Chrome "Frame" Stable version rather than my Dev Channel "Browser" (not tracked by the PSI).

Take care

Anthony

Hello Imacri,

Sorry, I'm a bit late.
Can confirm you finding on:

Windows XP home SP3,
Windows Vista home Premium 32-bit SP2,
Secunia PSI 2.0.0.3003.

Under Secure Browsing there are three browsers, each only listed once:
Internet Explorer 8.x or 9.x
Mozilla Firefox 15.x
Opera 12.x

Opening the + in front of each browser reviews its plug-ins and shows the browser itself;
once for Internet Explorer 8.x or 9.x
twice for Mozilla Firefox 15.x
once for Opera 12.x

Also tried to switch the default browser from Firefox into Opera, rebooted the PC and did a complete PSI scan with the same results.

Have a nice day,

Websafe.

Using PSI 2.0.0.3003, I have the same situation : under the browser Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox 15.x is listed twice.

And even more : under the browser Waterfox (64 bits), Waterfox is listed as well as Mozilla Firefox ...

HI ,

Just to ammend my initial comments , whilst I still have only one each of the Browsers displayed initially in the "secure browsing" module , when I open/click the [+] , in the "programs/plugins" loaded I see two entries each for Google Chrome 21.x and Mozilla Firefox 15.x (the latter Ff x 2 displays are also missing/without their icon , merely a minute dot in an otherwise white box).

IE seems to be displaying correctly (one of witicon) .

Take care

Anthony

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. It's good to know other PSI 2.x users are seeing the same glitch, and that the problem likely has nothing to do with my Firefox installation.

I ran another scan this morning and Secure Browsing is still showing two entries for the Firefox 15.0 program when I click on the "+" to expand the list of programs / plugins associated with my Firefox browser. If Emil or one of the other Secunia Officials doesn't reply to this thread with an update in the next day or two I'll follow throkr's example and send off a screenshot to Secunia Support via e-mail.

For information, I just received the following answer from support : "I was able to recreate this issue with PSI 2.0.0.3003, however this should work fine with 2.0.0.4003.
I suggested that you update your PSI to a newer version (2.0.0.4003) "

And this is my answer : "Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I prefer to stay with version 2.0.0.3003 precisely because it seems to be the only version proposing full Secure Browsing notifications. " ... ;-)

Hello Throkr.,

Thanks for your update.

Can confirm the “Update to version 2.0.0.3004” solution from Support-team will solve the problem with the duplicate Firefox icon.

Can also confirm the limited secure browsing notifications from PSI 2.0.0.3004.

While using PSI 2.0.0.3004 under Secure Browsing tab for Firefox 12.x there are missing:
Adobe Flash Player 11.x (NPAPI)
Microsoft .Net Framework assistant 1.x

These plug-ins do show up under Secure Browsing while using PSI 2.0.0.3003.

Websafe.

Hi Emil:

Thanks for looking into this. I just e-mailed Secunia Support with full details and a screen shot as you suggested.

I have to echo throkr's sentiments - I don't want to upgrade to v. 2.0.0.4003 since that build has limited Secure Browsing features.

Just wanted everyone to know that Secunia Support has created a bug report for the duplicate browser entries displayed in PSI v 2.x Secure Browsing (builds 2.0.0.3003 and earlier) and hope to have the problem fixed soon.
