Hi I had the MSMXL update problem detailed elsewhere, so followed the advice given in the second post in this thread: http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/131... Problem is that Windows update is still showing nothing, but having rerun Secunia I now have FIVE versions of Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) requiring up date: 3.x showing version 8.110.7601.17857 3.x 64 bit also showing version 8.110.7601.17857 4.x showing version number 4.20.9876.0 (I think this was the original one) 6.x showing version 6.70.7601.17857 6.x. 64 bit also showing version 6.70.7601.17857 I obviously did something wrong, so what do I do now? Thanks! CM |

As I explained in my first post, I had done exactly that ("followed the advice in point 1: "If PSI gives a version number starting 4.2 or 4.1 "). I uninstalled two of the three versions that were given in the programmes list, and that still made no difference. However, Windows update ran a security update for MSXL Core services 4 this morning and all is now well. My question now: do I need to work out how to reinstall the two versions I uninstalled yesterday night? Thanks. CM |

I am a bit confused. None of my post on MSXML indicate that versions should be uninstalled. Does your PSI Scan Page read out look like this? https://akkkug.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pMSKZd-0S8z... -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Yes, exactly like that (with the unupdated MSMXL 4.) . The uninstall idea came from somewhere else, and not from you - I think it was not a good one! That will teach me to try to solve computer problems in the middle of the night. :( Any idea where I can recover 3. and 6. from? | ||||||||

Secunia says the programmes are there and up to date, and the history shows the correct updates - although they are not showing up in the programmes list in the control panel. All very mysterious. I will try for a screen shot, but I think that all is well. Thank you for your help and apologies for my idiocy. CM |

No problem. If PSI has found the EXE file & your read out looks like mine U are OK. MSXML 3 & 6 do not show in Control Panel>Programs & Features on my PC either. MSXML 4 does because it can be uninstalled if no longer required to run legacy applications. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |
