I am unable to install PSI because it says another version is installed. I had used a beta version before, but uninstalled it from my machine. Therefore, I am unable to uninstall the program. As well, PSISetup is unable to uninstall the program. I have diligently looked for any executables -- there are none. Absolutely none. I did a registry search, and yes, there are remants of the old installation -- but I dare not fool around since I don't know what is safe to remove. If someone can help me, I would be very grateful. I found a file that said identified beta 1.7. However, I am not sure which version I had in the past. I thought that if I had the installer for the same version, I could install and then uninstall and upgrade to 3.0. However, I cannot find it on the internet. That's all. Hope someone can help -- do you know what registry keys the setup checks before installing. Thank you. |

Below my Signature Block are links to various supported versions. Click the link on the one you want. Let it run. It should uninstall any old version & update to the new. If you get an error message what does it say? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Thank you so much. In each and every one of the (including PSI1) it says that an older version is installed. In the setups that have an uninstaller, it fails to uninstall the "old" version. And one of the reasons it fails to uninstall is that PSI is not installed on my system! Since this did not fix it (and I am grateful for your efforts), the next logical thing would be to determine what registry items the setup program checks to determine if the program is installed -- and delete those. Any insight? Anyone? |

I was able to solve the problem and install PSI, but I don't recommend this for everyone. I used regscanner (you can just use regedit) to identify all of the registry items with secunia in its name. I then inspected each item to make sure it was not unrelated to secunia psi. I then deleted of the remaining registry tools. Now Secunia installed without difficulty. Solved. |
