I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 and Secunia PSI 3.0 says that is needs an update. I went to the site and they say there is no update for this software, I do not want to buy a new version. So I will be ignoring PCI's request to update. C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements Organizer 8.0\" Dell Inspiron i5 cpm m @450 2.4 4GB win 7 pro thanks..........glenda -- glenda |

Glenda, There is an advisory on your programme as follows: https://secunia.com/advisories/46277/ Strange thing is, I have this programme on my test PC and it is showing as fully patched. Open the programme>help - what version number have you got? Mine is version 8 2009 0905 r 605812 - is yours the same? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |

I have never used Adobe Element 8 since I bought my computer over a year ago. I just made an account because I was hoping they would upgrade to a newer revision, no such luck. As soon as I click on it , it takes me to the online sight. Anyway I did not find a version number like yours. I am not sure where to go to get it. I did find it was loaded on my computer 9/18/2009. Sorry this doesn't help. I probably will not use the program I am not that into photography. -- glenda |

Glenda, I am not sure you have a full version - I have never seen Adobe Photoshop Elements preinstalled on a PC. Normally it is purchased on a CD/DVD & is activated online. If U do not use it I would uninstall it via Control Panel>add/remove. If you prefer to keep it I can give you more details on how to find the version number etc. & try to make it secure. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |

It was preinstalled but you are probably right about not the full version. I had to register online because I was trying to update for PSI. So far it is free so would you mind telling me how to get my version number. Then I will have to make a decision either to keep or delete. It is that dangerous to hang onto?? thanks -- glenda |

Ok Maurice here is the info you have been asking for. Sorry it took me awhile. Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 core version 8.0 20090917.r.608822 1990 to 2009 I tried again to update and it says no updates available, so I better uninstall. Thanks for all your help Maurice I appreciate it very much. -- glenda |

It is a very good programme. I have retained this version on my test PC. If you would like to keep it wait awhile & I will investigate further - it might be safe to ignore it & use with caution. Glenda, Just to confirm - is PSI 3.0.0.3001 telling you to UPDATE Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 or does it clearly state it is END OF LIFE? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |

You have tagged on to a thread that is dealing with Photoshop Elements not MSXML. That said the solution to your problem is here: https://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/13... Once complete you should find it clears up all your MSXML woes - if not you should create your own thread giving details of why the solution failed. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |

Ken, Pleased to see all is in order. Always better to create your own thread - that way you can control it & if necessary lock it. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |

Maurice, According to the report from PSI 3.0 Adobe Elements 8.0 is the only program showing it needs an update. When I click on the icon (In PSI report) this is the message I get: PSI says " This program is no longer supported by the supplier." "We suggest you contact the supplier for an update". Adope Elements 8.0 says no update for this program available. Now I am sure they would let me pay for an update to whatever is the latest version, but I don't want to. Does this help? thanks -- glenda |

Yes - thank you. As you are aware my version was showing differently in that it was not showing as vulnerable or End of Life. That situation has been corrected off the Forum with Secunia Support & I can confirm that Adobe PhotoShop Elements 8 & Adobe Premiere Elements 8 are End of Life. End of Life means that Adobe will never clear any existing or new vulnerabilities or update that programme in any way. The choices are: 1. Given that you rarely use the programme you could ignore the Secunia warning & use it with caution noting what the Secunia Advisory states: The vulnerability is caused due to an error when processing certain structures within Brush (ABR) and Gradient (GRD) files. This can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted ".abr" or ".grd" file. Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but requires tricking a user into opening a malicious file. 2. Pay to upgrade which I note is something you are not keen to do. 3. Uninstall it completely like I have done. Hope this helps in making up your mind on what to do. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 SP1 16GB RAM |
