Although I have a 100% dashboard score, my tray icon is always red. I just did another scan, but the icon remains red with a 100% score. My version is 2.0.0.4003. Any ideas? Thanks! |

Right click on the tray icon & select close. Now activate the programme via Windows Explorer - has it changed colour? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Thanks for responding, Maurice. No, it ran through its internet and data verifications and the dashboard again shows 100%, but the icon returned as red again. |

Have you tried a reinstall? The links are below my Signature Block if you want to try that. Just click the link of the version you want & let PSI run. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

I tried the 2.0.0.3003 and the 3.0.0.3001 with the icon remaining red after the scan. But when I displayed the programs in the 3.0.0.3001, I found something strange: It said I had 68 programs, 100% score, and they all show an orange circle next to "Examining program". But under that are 5 more programs, each with a gray circle, and my cursor spinning like it is trying unsuccessfully to find or scan them. These 5 programs may be old or invalid - one references Norton 2007 which came with my laptop, but I no longer use. I did once have to reload SW (Vista SP2) due to a bad hard drive, and I changed a user account name. Could it be looking for programs that no longer exist? If so, can I fix this? Thanks again. |

I found that these 5 programs with gray circles are indeed old programs on my laptop, and Secunia currently ignores updates for them. Should I change their setting to receive updates?

Depends what you mean by old. If you no longer require those programmes or have a later addition then you should uninstall them IF THEY ARE ON YOUR MAIN WORKING (NORMALLY C) DRIVE via Control Panel>add/remove If they cannot be found there or you are unsure which drive they are on we need to know the file path for each of the 5 offending programmes: FINDING A FILE PATH USING PSI VERSION 2 From the DASHBOARD page click on SCAN RESULTS. 1. This will list all your programmes with a + to the left of each programme. 2. Click the + sign next to the item that U want help with. 3. This will reveal the path under DETECTED INSTANCES. 4. Below DETECTED INSTANCES you will see this You can double click this row for additional information & options>double click it>a box will appear>look to the RIGHT & U will see TROUBLESHOOT REPORT in BLUE writing under the heading TOOLBOX> click TroubleShoot Report & it will reveal some information in a box>highlight the information revealed from ---START--- to ---END--- & copy it (CTRL+C) then post it to the Forum (CTRL+V) VERSION 3 This version does not have such an easy method to publish the path. Open PSI>once open select Show Programs. U will now see a page full of programme icons or a list. Right click on the programme in error>select Show Details - that will open a box showing the path & version number of the offending file. U now have 2 options: 1. Write down the exact file path & install version - return to the Forum & type that information. 2. Take a screen shot & publish that. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Yes, I currently have 3.0.0.3001, but I also had the problem of the icon remaining red instead of green with 100% score on both of the version 2's that you list in your messages.

I think I can explain the oddity. Version 3 has a bug whereby it does not obey any ignore rules set up by the user. Clearly this has not been fixed. I would not delete any of those files. They are OEM set up files & any reinstallation you may carry out in the future may not work if they have been tampered with. Correct me if I am wrong but if you revert back to PSI version 2 everything is in order except for the fact that the tray icon remains red despite the fact your score is 100%? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

I just reverted back to 2.0.0.4003. Score is 100% with all 73 programs showing as patched and up-to-date, and icon still red. When I enabled secure browsing, it listed Google Chrome 21.x and IE9.x as "not secure for browsing", unpatched, no vendor solution. Could this be related to the red icon? Otherwise, all seems OK as far as I can tell. Thanks again for all your help.

No - the secure browsing element does not affect the tray icon. Not sure where we go from here to try & get the traffic lights working - as I am sure you are aware many more users suffer/have suffered from this problem. Not sure I have ever seen a permanent solution - what we have tried to date normally gets it going even on a temporary basis. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

If you want to know more about the security of attachments to your browser (a better listing than v 2.0.0.4003) then you require version 2.0.0.3003 - the download link is below my Signature Block. If you want that extra information an install of that version may get the lights working at the same time! -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |
