I understand that PSI ver. 3.0 is a beta; but I wondered why the developers thought it was desirable to remove the choices and information that were available to users in ver. 2 in dealing with programs that needed updates? Did they assume that the typical user lacked the intelligence to navigate the PSI 2 user interface and that the overly simplified PSI 3 interface was an improvement? |

It's an alternative not a replacement. You can still download the previous versions from http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/sys_req/ The current version 3.0.0.3001 is not a beta. -- This answer is provided “as-is.” You bear the risk of using it. |

I have reinstalled a previous version to restore the functionality that was lost in version 3. I just questioned the reasoning behind the design of version 3. Will the version 2 series continue to be updated? | ||||||||

The rationale behind the launch of version 3 is here: https://secunia.com/blog/306/ and here https://secunia.com/blog/320/?action=deletepost&wh... Both releases led to "lively" comments on the Forum but what was made clear was: 1. PSI version 3 is not an upgrade from version 2. 2. PSI versions 1,2 & 3 are fully supported. Sadly at the time of launch of V3 these facts were (and still are) not promoted correctly on the main download page hence @ddmarshal directed you to the alternate page.
