I've had PSI installed for years and never had a problem with it - until today. Turned on my PC and noticed the PSI System Tray icon was red. It was green just the day before and had completed the weekly scan the previous Wednesday. Tried starting it manually from the System Tray icon but it just hangs at "Verifying Internet Connection." I checked the Internet Options and Administrative Tools settings as per the FAQ (http://secunia.com/products/consumer/psi/faq/) and everything checks out. Next, I uninstalled PSI via Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and then reinstalled it. Nothing helped. Still hangs. Anyone have any credible suggestions? PSI 2.0.0.3003 Win Vista Home Premium SP2 |

"I did some checking the PSI web site was down....just another PSI problem...." Indeed, that must have been the problem. The PSI System Tray icon is back to green. It would save a lot of frustration if I could check to see if the "site" was down rather than resort to more drastic measures should the need arise again. I jumped through a lot of hoops trying to be smart about solving the problem. That the "site" might be down never entered the equation. Now that I'm feeling rather ignorant, how does one go about checking to see if the "site" is working, so I can add that to my repertoire should I ever need to "fix" things again? Thank you all for your replies to my initial post. Much appreciated. |

Hi , I had the same problem yesterday (29th) for a couple of hours here in France with 2.0.0.3003 . I was going to post to the Forum but did not have time before it came back and no one else reported a problem . It is not usually the "site" that is down ( eg: I could get to the Forum) it is rather a "server" connection problem ; this is catch 22 as all the data displayed by the PSI is kept on the server , so the psi.exe will run and (try to) load the GUI but if the psia.exe cannot call home for the data it cannot get a message to you either . Quite often , in the past , the GUI has opened and given 0% everywhere and was seen as characteristic of "server down" ; "loading/verifying ..." is a different response . Whichever way , it is usually better to be patient and certainly check the Forum before you recheck settings/reinstall . There have been fewer posts than normal probably as (at least) my/the time out was short . Perhaps Support will comment when they are back to work on the PSI on Monday(CET) .
