Secunia has these 3 programs as needing updating , however every time I run microsoft updating all that needs updating is an optinal update for bing desktop which I don't run and don't want anyway.

There are no updates in the list for any of the three programs Windows 7, Word 2007 or Infopath 2007

What file path does PSI give for the problem with Word 2007

FINDING A FILE PATH USING PSI

VERSION 2

From the DASHBOARD page click on SCAN RESULTS.

1. This will list all your programmes with a + to the left of each programme.
2. Click the + sign next to the item that U want help with.
3. This will reveal the path under DETECTED INSTANCES.
4. Below DETECTED INSTANCES you will see this You can double click this row for additional information & options>double click it>a box will appear>look to the RIGHT & U will see TROUBLESHOOT REPORT in BLUE writing under the heading TOOLBOX> click TroubleShoot Report & it will reveal some information in a box>highlight the information revealed from ---START--- to ---END--- & copy it (CTRL+C) then post it to the Forum (CTRL+V)

VERSION 3
This version does not have such an easy method to publish the path.

Open PSI>once open select Show Programs.
U will now see a page full of programme icons or a list.
Right click on the programme in error>select Show Details - that will open a box showing the path & version number of the offending file.
U now have 2 options:
1. Write down the exact file path & install version - return to the Forum & type that information.
2. Take a screen shot & publish that.

The reason Windows 7 is showing as insecure is that Word & maybe Infopath are not updated.

To be fully up to date Word should be version 12.0.6662.5003.

I suspect these updates are not registered correctly which were issued on the 9th October via Windows Update or you have never installed SP3.

KB 2687315 - Word
KB2687314 - Office 2007
KB2687440 - Infopath

To check Word do this:

Open Word>Click the Orb (top left)>select Word Options (bottom of page)>click resourses> click about (opposite About Microsoft Office Word 2007)>a box will appear>the top row should read
Microsoft Office Word 2007 (12.0.6662.5003) SP3 (12.0.6662 5000)

Hi Maurice

I have just checked and it does read:

Microsoft Office Word 2007 (12.0.6662.5003) SP3 (12.0.6662 5000)

as you said so it appears to be upto date but is not being seen to be by PSI?

So far so good.

I assume this problem occurs after a full PSI scan? If you have not carried out a full PSI scan they may not have registered.

If,after a full PSI scan the problem persists reinstall the updates using these links:

Just click the links & follow the prompts - there is no requirement to uninstall anything.

Word - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...

Office - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...

Infopath - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...
