My desktop runs Win XP SP3. I have not been happy with PSI 3, so uninstalled and installed PSI 2. Scans indicate that I have an end-of-life program, Microsoft Blaster/Nachi Removal Tool. As is so typical of M$, they recommend removing the tool using Add or Remove Programs. Only one problem: It's not in the list of programs. I tried deleting the file (blastcln.exe) from the \dllcache and \system32 folders, but Windows reinstalls it ever time. Why is Windows reinstalling it? How can I permanently remove it? -- Don |

You found the same thing I did -- that M$ instructions to remove it are worthless. I renamed it blastcln.exe-old in BOTH \dllcache and \system32, then ran another PSI scan. It did not show up. However, I haven't done a reboot to see if Windows reinstalls it. If it does, I'll report that in the thread. -- Don |

Am pleased to report that after a reboot, Windows did NOT replicate the file. Problem solved. Thanks for the help. -- Don |
