is there any action I should take now to check why it took so long or can there be an 'innocent' reason for it?

The laptop is Win7 - when I powered up I caught the end of a message saying installing 68 of 68 updates! I'm checking the MS log for these as I can hardly believe it.

Just to make sure, did the scan time decrease recently or has it always taken that long? Does it return to normal if you restart your computer and then rescan? Obviously, if other resource intensive tasks are happening in the background, then the scan time of the PSI will be affected.
