A few points to consider:

- Are the time and date settings on your computer correct?

- Have you tried to restart your computer and reinstall the PSI?

- Do you have any security programs running that could be causing restrictions to the PSI?

- Can you please go through these steps in the FAQ:
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

- Do you see the same issue if you install the previous versions of the PSI available on this page?

Could you advise whether I can check the version in the Scan Notice ? Or do I have to go to the Control Panel (I am using Windows 7) ?

I am still on 3.0.0.4001 and I saw you have a later version. How do I update ? Does this not occur automatically ?

Thanks in advance - lange99

Thanks.

Can anybody tell me why the Secunia icon is shown in the Secunia System Score as "Up-to-date", while I am still on 3.0.0.4001 and 6001 is available ?? Does Secunia not update their own program(s) automatically ?

Thanks in advance and Best wishes to all for a Happy and Secure 2013 !!

Hello lange99. The system score tells you that all the programs you have installed and listed in the program list are up to date. The percentage changes when one or more programs are are outdated. The PSI doesn't update itself automatically. Via the link in mescott's post you can see what's the last version of the PSI.

Hello.

Just to add to Leendert's post ( hello Leendert !)......the reason psi doesn't update itself, is that there are different versions still currently in use.....some users prefer to stay with the earlier.
All psi versions use the same detection engine....but presentation of those results together with more or less functions/information differ. Some users, in fact, have not always found it possible to move to later versions.

Happy New Year to friends, Support staff and the community.

lange99 and others unless something has changed Secunia may not show and update a program if it is not a Security update. If it is just a feature or a bug fix Secunia may not report the new version.
Sometimes you may get an update notice from Secunia and update that program before the program itself will let you update directly.

That said I do wish Secunia would let us know when PSI has a new version. They could show it separate from the other programs so you keep a 100% score but stay with an older version. They make it so easy to update other programs but not their own.

Hello to all ,

Support have stated elsewhere that the developers are looking into the possibility of including an "updater" in a forthcoming version of the PSI .

Whilst version 3.x of the PSI is the "latest" version , many users (myself included) consider version 2.x to be more useful and more accurate/easier to use when updating software . Until the SPS update installers are nearer to 100% efficiency , I shall not change from my current version 2.0.0.3003 which is fully secure and fully supported by Secunia .

Your version is shown in "About" if right click the tray icon . "All" the relevant versions are available courtesy of in the link provided by Maurice Joyce in his signature in any of his posts .

Seasons Greetings and may your god go with you .

Take care

Anthony

I personally think that the old version was better but I'll give this one a chance for a few days. The new one seems "dummed down" but then everything else is. What is that saying?

I followed Anthony's advice and installed version 2.0.0.3003 on (another) computer this afternoon. In order to improve my score I classified some older programmes as "to be ignored". The only thing I miss now is a list of all the programs that I have classified as such. Can I retrieve these or are lost for ever ????

Hello @lange99 ,

At the top lhs of the Dashboard page (module) of the pSI 2.0.0.3003 is a set of menus ; open/click the Configuration menu ->Settings->Ignore rules and any programmes you have set to ignore will be listed .

Version 2.x has more detailed bits and pieces which you might check thru' by at least mousing over items and/or clicking them .

Take care

Anthony

Hello @Anthony,

Thanks for your help. I followed your instructions and got as far as clicking the "Ignore Rules" tab, but fields under Name and Path remain empty. I tried to Create Ignore Rule, but have no idea what to put in as Rule Name and Rule Path in order to list the "Ignored programs". Can you help me ?

Thanks again and regards - lange99

Here is an answer I found for you.Hope this helps.

mogs

Hello.
To ignore a program...go to the Scan Results page : click on the + sign alongside. You should then see Detected instances and their file paths. There, on the left of each path, you should see two icons...clicking the leftmost enables ignoring that instance.

Hope this helps....regards,

I find that version 2.0.0.3003 is ideal. Has all that I want. Also the logo turns from red to green
on the task bar.

Hello @Anthony,

I am glad to see that you are back again. The answer to yoday's or yesterday's question is yes and no. Somehow the list under the tab "Ignore Rules" filled up after some time. I have no idea when and why, but it seems complete.
I put all "End of life" and "Discontinued" programs in there, so I get a 100 % score on the active programs. That seems the only way to get the "Green Icon".
But I still would like to know if Green turns to Red automatically when there is an event that leads to an up to date program turning into one considered Insecure ? Or do I still have to start a scan on a regulat basis more frequently than once a week, as scheduled in version 2.0.0.3003 ??

Thanks again and regards - lange99

Hello Mogs,

In 2.0.0.3003 I dubble clicked on the Program to be Ignored and then right clicked on the path and selected to Ignore. Slightly different, but the program did show up in the list.
