It seems almost amusing that a program (PSI) dedicated to checking the update status of other programs doesn't update itself. Or am I missing some feature?. If not, consider this to be a polite suggestion to Secunia to include their own program for automatic checks & updates.

As you've been a user since 2008.......I find it incredible that you've missed so much reading !
Your comment/suggestion has been made many times.
The reply is the same :-
Many users prefer earlier versions of psi ( more info etc.. )....auto update of same would cause some problems....hence it is left to users to decide.

Regards............

You're right, I don't look at the forums much, only when I have some kind of a problem.

I can understand the reason to not auto-update, but for most people NOT paranoid about new versions, it would still be nice to at least have some kind of notification that a new version is available. I don't have the opportunity to decide if I want a new version if I don't know one exists.

It might be worth consulting the Changelog periodically ? :-
http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/sys_req/.... a little further down the page.
Hope it helps..........regards.......

I hate to keep flogging what is apparently a dead horse, but isn't it ironic that the whole reason for using programs like PSI is so that we don't have to go to dozens of web sites to check change logs for all our programs?

I wasn't aware that I'd given you the link to dozens of changelogs......not even four. I've already given you freely the reason why psi does not auto update itself......I'm starting to feel that I'm happy you havn't had too many other problems in the last few years !!

Regards.....

Hi ,

I would add that the PSI is a "security vulnerability patch checker" and does not (never has) check for bug fix or eye candy updates .

All versions of the PSI are currently "up to date" as in "secure" and several versions are currently fully supported by Secunia - see the link in the Maurice Joyce's signature in any of his posts for details .

Secunia are currently considering whether to include some kind of update advisor in upcoming versions . Wouldn't hold your breath while waiting ..

Yaki dah , Mogs .

Take care

Anthony

My personal opinion: it's worth trying Filehippo Udate checker. It works for me, easy in use, easy to install or uninstall.

Hi all

To add more fuel to the fire, as stated above, the
PSI is a vulnerability checker-as no vulnerabilities
have ever been found in the program(s) v.1,2,or3 no
cause for an update. When new version(s) are available
Secunia usually post to the Forum or simply, as
stated above by mogs, add it to the change log.

@ Anthony-good to 'see' you. Hope the healing
process is going well. Take care.

Regards, wr
