I have 3 messages regarding Adobe products
Updating Adobe AIR 3.x (C:\Program Files (x86)\ Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\Adobe AIR.dll 3.5.0.1060)

Updating Flash Player 11.x (ActiveX) (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\Flash32_11_5_5 02_149.ocx 11.5.502.149 (ActiveX))

Updating Adobe Flash Player 11.x (NPAPI) (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_11_5_5 02_149.dll 11.5.502.149 (NPAPI))

None of them complete updating.
Scanning again just revels that they are still there.

It sounds like you might be running into a problem with the online installer. Please see this help page for links to our stand alone installers:

Installation Problems - Flash Player - Windows

To answer your questions..

1. Yes, the plugin should be updated if you are using a browser (or application) other than Internet Explorer to view Flash content.

2. Please see the link above

3. When checking versions online, it will only show the version that is currently being used. If you use IE to do this, only the ActiveX version will be displayed.

Hope this helps,

Chris

sorry, another thought. I'm sure you'll take care to uncheck the box that will instal Google toolbar and instal & make Chrome your preferred browser.

Other you'll have to uninstal Chrome (if you don't want it of course and then you may have problems like mine here: http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/138...

Taffy

Thank you for your suggestions for manually updating Flash Player and Air.
I am now left with just Updating Adobe Flash Player 11.x (ActiveX)
I understand that this only applies to IE9. I have another problem with IE9 tin that clicking on a link brings up a blank tab which stays blank. I will try uninstalling IE9 and re-installing. Otherwise I will stick with Firefox.

Hi DimSpark.

"I am now left with just Updating Adobe Flash Player 11.x (ActiveX)

That's what I had - I clicked on the Secunia Results screen "click here to update" and it did.

Alternatively, try this link:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/5073232#5073232

Fingers crossed for you. I know how frustrating this can be!

Hi Taffy

Thank you. My message said "Updating..." but it never got anywhere. I followed the link and selected the .exe option for Windows internet explorer and now IE9 flash player works fine. And I am now up to 100% on Secunia.

Pity clicking on links in IE9 just produces a blank page.. but that's another story.

Many thanks
DimSpark in S Yorks.
