I saw an on-line notice a while ago that PSI 3.0.0.6005 had been released, so I downloaded a copy and installed in on my 32-bit computer with Windows 7 Home Premium. (I checked the existing version, which IF I remember correctly, was 2.0.0.6004--at any rate is was not .6005.)

Just as with earlier releases, after installing 3.0.0.6005, there is no Update Agent in Windows Services, nor is there any UserID in the Windows Registry, nor does it work.

@Who Did I Used To Be

I had a similar experience last night, when I thought to try psi 3.0 out again.....incidentally the latest version being 3.0.0.6001.....( Changelog here........http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/sys_req/ ) Yes....the Secunia Update Agent didn't install..... it did complete a scan but stuck at retrieving the results....next time I opened up psi they were there.
I've since reverted to psi 2.0 which installed both agents, no problems....which you might like to try...........see link on same page.

Regards........

No, the installer and the installed files all identify themselves as .6005; the change log file is out-of-date.

Hi Who_Did_I_Use_To_Be & mogs, first of all I didn't find any info about 3.0.0.6005. Downloading the installer from the product page, which still mentions 3.0.0.6001, shows that the installer indeed is 6005. I installed and ran several scans without problems. Secunia PSI Agent is in Services. I assume there is an UserId in the Windows registry because I can login and reply to posts. However, I don't know where to check in the registry.

Well, 6005 works for you even better than you are aware: The silly forum system sent me eight email notifications of your reply!

Hi, the cause of the eight mail notifications is possibly because I couldn't get the text of my reply in good order in one time. And yes, the register key contains three entries. I have no idea why it doesn't work for you because you work with Windows 7. The only difference is that I have 64 bits. Hopefully somebody else comes up with a solution of wait till monday when support is available.

Ah: I had created a thread sometime ago about PSI 3.x working on my 64-bit, not on my 32-bit computer, so when I started this new thread, I did not mention anything about the 64-bit machine as I've not installed 6005 on the 64-bit, although I have the installer file. No reason, other than that I've not yet installed it (if that can be considered a "reason",) but suspect that it will work fine--which is why no mention earlier in this thread about 6005 and 64-bit computer..

A short while later; 6005 installed and working on the 64-bitt machine.

Fine! If you are happy that it works OK you may lock the thread. It prevents that others tag on and flood your mailbox.

Locking this thread? That would defeat its purpose, which is to try to get Secunia to fix the 32-bit computer problem, which is NOT fixed, at least not for me.

If you are referring to the first thread on the subject, I've not received any replies to it for at least a few weeks, so I doubt that leaving it open is a problem. I could search for it, but I'm not going to bother unless it becomes a problem.

If that's the case you are correct. Just wait and see if someone responds or Secunia support on monday. In case they don't respond you can send a mail to: support@secunia.com

Hi mogs, that explaines why I haven't discovered the new version before. I don't check with Softpedia or other sites. I regularly check the product page for PSI at Secunia's site which up to now states v. 6001 while the updater is 6005. I have sent an e-mail to support and asked to update the product page and changelog.

Just an info here : however I will still be keeping the most complete version of PSI (2.0.0.3003), I tried out this very latest version "6005" on my system : strictly no problem at all ...

@throkr

I've just tried psi 3.0 again.....yeah...all seems to be running okay.....one strange anomaly tho'...when clicking the taskbar icon and About; the version is shown as 3.0.0.6005...but after a full scan Secunia detects itself as 3.0.0.6001 !!

Edit.....just checked again....it's showing as 3.0.0.6005 !! Hooray !

It would also be nice (and useful !) to have the correct data showing up on the official download page (version nbr and changelog) ... ;-)

Hi mogs, same experience here yesterday. Revo recognised 6005 immediately and PSI icon/about were correct. In the programs list first 6001 and after 3 scans 6005.

I agree of course and sent an e-mail to support. I'm quite confident that they will respond tomorrow.
