Hello,

I'm very new to CSI and we have Trouble with the Signing certificate. We have installed a MS PKI signed certificate to the WSUS Server. CSI is showing Connection and certificate ok, I can even push out the signing certificate to Clients, but as soon as I'm trying to create a package I'm getting this error:

Failed to create package: : -2147352567 , In 'Publisher.invoke'
Code: -2146233079
Failed to sign package; error was: 2148081670
--> System.InvalidOperationException: Failed to sign package; error was: 2148081670

at plugin.DotNetWrapper<Microsoft::UpdateServices: :Administration::IPublisher>.invoke(DotNetWrapp er<Microsoft::UpdateServices::Administration::I Publisher>* , PluginBstr* name, Arguments* args, PluginMarshal* marshal)

I already double checked, that we have 2048bit key. We're running CSI 5.0.1.2 right now and the newest WSUS Version.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Such problem may be caused by multiple factors in multiple different scenarios. The error code you've encountered is rather standard and so more information on your case needs to be requested. Could we kindly ask you to redirect this same inquiry to csc@secunia.com?

A solution specialist will be assigned to your case in a timely manner, as It will be much easier for both sides to communicate and solve this problem fast. We are looking forward towards receiving your email. Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Hello,

thanks for the answer but I figured it out on my own in the meantime. If somebody else wants to use his own CA certificate, ist needed to Import the certificate without private key through the wizard and afterwards Import the .pfx with private Key to the WSUS Folder in the certificates store on the WSUS Server.

After this procedure it was working for me. The only open issue we have, that never the less we're using a certificate signed by our own Domain CA we still need to deploy the certificate to the Clients for installing updates. We wanted to avoid that by using own CA. Is there a reason for this? Thanks

Kind Regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

We are happy to know that your console is up and running again.
Thank you for posting details about the approach you took to resolve the certificate problem.

We marked your last comment as solution for this problem and other common related certificate issues which result in the error you pointed in your first comment.

Kind regards,
