I've just downloaded Secunia PSI and received the following Error Message:
"Your PSI installation does not appear to have registered itself correctly. Please ensure that 'psi.exe' is allowed to connect to the Internet, then please close down the PSI and start it again."
Can someone explain exactly what I need to do?? |

Thanks Maurice. None of those remedies seems to apply to my situation. I tried uninstalling and reinstrlling, but still get that same message. |

Just noticed this thread - could be secunia playing up
http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/141...
Some of the errors outlined I am getting hence my assumption it could be a programme hitch.

I agree--the problem seems to be on their end. I'll just keep tryping to open the program and check for updated posts. |

I believe it has been resolved now. Have you tried again?

Thanks. I just rebooted, uninstalled the program and reinstalled the program. Still got the same error message. |

Check your firewall settings to be sure it is not blocking the application.

My firewall settings are set to allow psi.exe to connect to the Internet. Still receiving that same darn message when I try to launch it. |

I am having exactly the same problem. Just tried to install PSI under 64-bit Windows 7 and get the same error message. I've added specific rules to the Windows firewall to allow PSI.exe to connect both inbound and outbound. I've tried running the install program in administrator mode; I've tried running the program itself in administrator mode and also in Vista compatibility mode. None of these make any difference.

Well, I'm more convinced than ever that the problem is not at our end. Hopefully someone has contacted them--sounds like a server issue.
Thanks. |

I am having exactly the same problem on a newly re-installed XP system. I have checked the firewall settings, tried two different browsers as default, uninstalled and re-installed Secunia PSI, downloaded a second copy of the installer (in case the first one was 'damaged') -- no luck. I have used Secunia for several years on different computers (including this one before I had to re-install Windows) and have not run in to this problem before. |

Well, this morning I clicked on the Secunia PSI icon and it began scanning my system. Nothing changed on my end, so once again I suspect the problem was at Secunia's end.
Things appear to be working smoothly, although I have three old programs which are resisting removal. Time to examine some of the other threads.... |
