Secunia PSI recently advised that Nitro Pro 7 is no longer being supported by Nitro. I have the latest update for Pro 7.
I only purchased Pro 7 18 months ago. The latest version, Pro 8 is not compellingly improved for me to warrant spending more money. However, Pro 7 was a considerable improvement over the free version so I don't fancy downgrading to the free version. Nitro offer a Software Assurance for about USD50 for 12 months for protection in case of a new version being released. So it would appear that one could go through the same process in 18 months even with the extra spend on assurance.
What is the realistic risk of removing Pro 7 from the PSI and continuing to use it? After all, the program is only used while reading, converting or otherwise dealing with pdf files. There would appear to still be many users of Pro 6, 5 & 4.
Thank you for any advice.

There are no vulnerabilities reported for Nitro PDF Pro 6.....See Secunia Advisory here :-

Nitro PDF Pro 7. has a highly Critical vulnerability....versions and prior.....See here :-

Nitro Pro 7. shows clear...See here :-

Nitro Pro 8....also shows clear, here :-

I would be very careful indeed to use PDF Pro 7.

You can create individual program Ignore rules which is outlined in the following :-
For 1.5:
Switch to Advanced Mode
Click the + next to the Program Name
Click the Ignore button
In psi 2.0 , for an individual programme :-

1)on the results page either click the [+] and then double click the expanded entry displayed or double click the original entry :

2)in the opened window , look in the bottom module "detected installation" and right click the programme entry as suggested and you have the choices of "open folder" and "ignore rule" .

The latter sets/you confirm the rule for the individual programme .

"Settings" in both psi 2.0 and 1.5x have a facility to create your own ignore rules .

If you follow the instructions posted above, you will be able to ignore the PSI's results from a specific program. Keep in mind, though, that simply ignoring a problem will not deal with the threat it faces.

Please also note that in PSI 1.x versions, an "ignored" directory will still be scanned, though the results will be disregarded, while in the PSI 2.0 , ignoring a drive or folder will truly omit it from scanning.

From what I can remember I think the facility is still available in psi 3.0

Hope the foregoing is helpful in assessing.......regards.....mogs

Thanks mogs.

Your first url I understand but the other two, being undated as far as I could see, left me a bit confused.

Can you tell me if Pro 8.5 is secure?
