I think I got a virus from the VLC that I tried to download. No matter, I got rid of it. The problem now is it keeps saying my VLC 2.07 is insecure, but the solution won't install... And my computer says it's corrupt, etc. How do I install the solution, or fix whatevers going on here? I've never had a problem like this with Secunia before. Sometimes it's been more difficult to install the solution, but it's never been like this.. I tried to follow some other guys instructions in response to somebody else about going to the file without the red dot, but it didnt lead me into internet explorer.. ANyway, here is the troubleshoot report:

Program Name:
VLC Media Player 2.x

Security State:
Insecure

Download Link:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Instances Found:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe, version: 2.0.7.0

Last System Scan (localtime):
6. Aug 2013, 00:42

Operating System:
Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 7

---END---

Thanks for any help.

You have misread the details on what to do if reading this thread:
https://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/14...

There is no mention of INTERNET EXPLORER - clicking the folder without the red dot opens WINDOWS EXPLORER.

That is where that file is that requires deletion either by using the tool within PSI or manually opening Windows Explorer & deleting it.

It must be there because PSI has found that file. Try a TYPE search within VLC .

It will be an application - you may have to right click on each application entry>details to find it.

Example of what I mean is here:

Hello Maurice ,

Re your last post (!) , the link only goes to the sign in page .

Normally (!!) , the VLC (2.0.8.0) installer from VideoLAN , as provided by the PSI (in the troubleshoot report in th OP) , when run will detect the previos version , in this case 2.0.7.0 , and ask if "you" wish to uninstall it - with the option to retain specific settings , choices , etc.

It would seem that either 1) the previous 2..0.7.0 was left behind entirely (by choice or omission) : or

2)there is indeed a corrupt installer and 2.0.8.0 did not install : or

3)it did , but the old 2.0.7.0 uninstall was faulty and the .exe (+ other) file(s) was left behind .

It would be useful to know what exactly is in the current VLC Prograzme Files folder .

NB : this Secunia site is running extremely slowly for me .

Take care

Anthony
