System is: Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP3 with all MS updates thru 8/19/13. Secunia PSI v 3.0.0.6005 reports this software at end of life and v2008.x is the secure version. When I Click to update Secunia takes me to:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...

which is: Security Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 (KB948109).
There are two update files. The 32 bit file is: WYukon2005Setup-KB948109-x86-ENU.exe.

When I run this update file it creates a TMP file then nothing else happens and the 7.x SQL Server is not updated.

Is there a fix for this problem?

Iím afraid I donít have any personal experience with how to update Microsoft SQL Server on a home computer, nor have I heard from anyone else with this issue. As far as I can tell the update from Microsoft seems to run correctly on my test system.

This is the original Microsoft advisory in case it helps.

If no one else on the community can assist, then I suggest you contact Microsoft for support regarding their product, or that you look for a community specifically related to Microsoft products.

MS SQL Server 7.x Update

System is: Windows 7 Pro 32 bit SP1 with all MS updates thru 8/19/13 installed. Secunia PSI v 2.0 also reports this software at end of life and v2008.x is the secure version. When I Click to update Secunia also takes me to:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...

which is: Security Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 (KB948109).
There are two update files. The 32 bit file is also: WYukon2005Setup-KB948109-x86-ENU.exe.

When I ran this update on the Windows 7 PC it also creates a TMP file then displayed the message that the MS Server 7.x had incorrect installation parameters and ask did I want to continue?. I selected yes but Secunia 2.0 still reports SQL Server 7.x is installed and at end-of-life after rebooting and rescanning with Secunia 2.0.

I read the original Microsoft advisory as suggested by E.Jeppesen. This is way above my level of expertise. After reading this gibberish, I am not convinced this update applies to XP and maybe 7.
