We really require more information to help you. What path is PSI giving you to Bonjour that require an update?

What path is PSI showing to VLC that is vulnerable?

FINDING A FILE PATH USING PSI

VERSION 2

From the DASHBOARD page click on SCAN RESULTS.

1. This will list all your programmes with a + to the left of each programme.
2. Click the + sign next to the item that U want help with.
3. This will reveal the path under DETECTED INSTANCES.
4. Below DETECTED INSTANCES you will see this You can double click this row for additional information & options>double click it>a box will appear>look to the RIGHT & U will see TROUBLESHOOT REPORT in BLUE writing under the heading TOOLBOX> click TroubleShoot Report & it will reveal some information in a box>highlight the information revealed from ---START--- to ---END--- & copy it (CTRL+C) then post it to the Forum (CTRL+V)

VERSION 3
This version does not have such an easy method to publish the path.

Open PSI>once open select Show Programs.
U will now see a page full of programme icons or a list.
Right click on the programme in error>select Show Details - that will open a box showing the path & version number of the offending file.
U now have 2 options:
1. Write down the exact file path & install version - return to the Forum & type that information.
2. Take a screen shot & publish that.

Thank you for your reply.

C:\ProgramFiles(86)Bonjour/mDNSResponder.exe Installed version 1.0.3.1

For the time-being, I have changed it to Manual in Services. If that change appears to interfere with anything I'll start it and put it back to Auto.

Can't find any option to update, but they have a new version (2.0.2) on their website (includes the print service so I don't know if that if what I now have installed).

Trying to update using the Secunia update option doesn't seem to work.

Bonjour is not native Windows but Apple Mac.

Do you use this service? This will give you a clue as to what it can be used with.

If you use it for printing the link is here:

Thank you, Maurice. I'll leave it disabled until I run into a problem. Quicktime runs without it and I'll see if my Adobe programs do, as well. Was just curious about how to update that mDNSResponder.exe Secunia picks up without resorting to installing the entire Bonjour program. I don't use it for printing. If all goes well without it and there is no way to simply update it, I'll just rename it.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi IsabelleVT:

If you have iTunes installed on your computer, try a manual update (Help | Check for Updates) and see if iTunes can find an update for Bonjour.

The last update I received for the Bonjour was v. 3.0.0.10 on 17-Oct-2011. It came bundled with the iTunes 10.5.0 installer, which was also the first version of iTunes that did not require QuickTime to function.

I currently use iTunes v. 11.0.5 and it runs fine with the Bonjour service disabled.

The Apple support page for Bonjour is located at http://www.apple.com/ca/support/bonjour/.

Thanks so much, imacri for taking the time to reply.

I don't have itunes installed. I recently had to reinstall WIN7 and have been reinstalling all my programs. Don't know which one installed that Bonjour exe, but will leave it disabled until I see which program might not work without it. ♫
