Microsoft Office Excel Viewer 2007 is not showing as updated in PSI. Windows Updates said installation of the update was successful.

Even tho it says update successful, it keeps appearing in Windows Update as tho it needs to be installed. Windows forum said "Updates are corrupted in that they do not stop once installed."

However, since they supposedly were installed, shouldn't PSI still recognize this program as now being updated?

The location is:

C/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12/XLVIEW.EXE Installed Version 12.0.6679.5000

Have you noted this thread?

https://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/14...

It deals in part with your issue. MBSA confirms that there is an issue with some patches for your version of Office.

To date, I have not noted any revisions from Microsoft TechNet but my understanding is they are aware there are issues for some users.

Despite Windows Update stating that the patch(es) have been installed the meta data has not changed for that programme on your PC. On that basis PSI is correct to alert you to this fact & it will remain like that until Microsoft publish a revision addressing the problem.

EDIT: There is an active Forum here if you want to join in:

I have this problem with five Microsoft updates on my Win7 IE10 laptop:

IE10.x, IE10.x (64bit), Office Excel 2007, Office Word 2007 and Windows 7

That's tonight and tomorrow wasted trying to find out what the heck has happened, Thanks for the link to Microsoft, Maurice - I'll follow it later. I've also had problems on my laptop with Norton's Vault - the last time it happened was around some major MS updates so I've raised it there too.

Fingers crossed it resolves itself before my laptop ends up on a nearby Motorway.

Thank you Maurice. As usual, you can clear things up so quickly. I shared some of your info through my post on a Vista forum because I had posted there and another seen it and joined in.

Further, for the 4th time in two days I opened Secunia and selected to "scan again" and when it finished my icon was green again. The problem has apparently been fixed on my machine.

Thanks again, and have a great day!

It's both Word 2007 and Excel 2007, on many different versions of Windows. Problem acknowledged by MS. Won't be fixed until MS fixes it. See my recent postings in other threards...

@Taffy078

Windows 7 will show as vulnerable because you have Microsoft assets that are not up to date.

The Office 2007 issue is now fairly well known & is awaiting a response from Microsoft in the form of advice or a re-issue of the troublesome patch.

I am not aware of any issues with IE10 for Windows SP1. If you want help with that perhaps best you open a new thread. This one looks "done & dusted" & could be locked at any time.

EDIT:
You might also include details of Norton - are you using the new 2014 version for example?
