Try open the PSI and find Flash player 9.x on the list. Click on it and take a look at the path.
Should be alot easier to find the program now.

To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
advanced interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the entry of the programme to “expand” it.
* Click on Technical details to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.

Spreading the word is all: go to www.revo-unistaller.com download and install. It will hunt it down and resolve the problem. From system add/remove to program files to the registry. Happy hunting |

Yes, it is a totally awesome uninstaller and registry file cleaner. If this is who I am replying to. Wonder if the original starter of this thread ever got adobe to uninstall for him? Everybody else is using 10. |

I also have this issue. I know where the version 9 files are and now have version 10 but neither Secunia nor Revo will either offer the option of uninstalling or actually overwriting them or an equivalent action. How do I get rid of these version 9 files safely?

Have you restarted your computer after uninstalling Flash 9.x?

Yes, but as I said neither Windows, nor Revo, nor Secunia gives me the POSSIBILITY of removing these files. I have just checked the "date modified" ... they still appear to be being used.

Have you used Abobes own Flash uninstaller?
Use it, reboot, rescan. Then it should be gone :-)

I suppose I shall have to do that now. It will remove version 10 of course as well and I shall have to reinstall it. As others have said, why can't a company like Adobe get such a simple thing as upgrading software nice and clean and right first time?!

True, they should really make it easier to update flash!
Also, it is really necessary to have a plug in for both IE and Firefox? cant they just use the same one?

Can't have one plug for both SECURITY you would be giving a potential exploit vulnerability via a compatibility stream thus exposing both browsers. I have for about the last month used a update checker from filehippo.com it is free and the really great thing is filehippo handles a direct update install directly from their site. It appears to have a 4 star rating and is highly talked about on the web. Secondly it has a free standing install. |
