Hi,

Secunia CSI performs enumeration of all executable files with .DLL /.EXE /.OCX extension and then it extracts their metadata information that includes the software name and exact version.

This information is then being compared against Secunia Vulnerability Intelligence Database maintained by Secunia Research, where your software would receive the corresponding Insecure/End-Of-Life/Patched status and it would then be sent back as scan result to the CSI.

This same information is used by CSI to create packages that target to patch the same instances discovered as EOL/Insecure on your systems. Packages are configure out-of-the-box by Secunia and are being deployed via the Secunia Package System in an easy manner.

Kind regards / Stay Secure
