Running Win8 on an i7 Toshiba laptop. Secunia PSI says I should install v.31.0.1650.57. Had removed v.30.0.1599.101. Is anyone out there having this issue, and if so, how do I FIX it? Thanks for your timely response.

@JL Krol

31.0.1650.57 is the second update of Chrome since the version you removed.....
When you run Chrome....what version is showing in About ?
Chrome usually silently installs itself, but leaves the older file/version behind.

Google Chrome v.30.0.1599.101 was the version that was showing. Meanwhile, the issue was resolved by a company that maintains my laptop. I now have v.31.0.1650.57 installed.

Thank you for your response. Don't know why the version Secunia PSI said I needed (1650.57) wouldn't knstall. Perhaps it was because I tried to update without removing the older version first. Then I TOTALLY uninstalled Google Chrome (1599.101), followed by installing "1650.57," and it installed easily.

I can't explain it.....usually Chrome updates itself automatically
The older versions/files don't prevent Chrome updating....they remain in files until manually deleted.
The strange thing is, that even if it hasn't auto updated....simply going to About in Chrome will prompt it to check for updates.
Somehow you fell behind....and then not only was it a version update, but platform 30 to 31. Tho' psi could detect the older version and advise what the current version was....it couldn't perhaps make the leap over the initial 31 version.
Perhaps you'd been on holiday, or hadn't used the pc in a while ?

Incidentally....Chrome Stable has been updated again...today :-
Chrome has been updated to 31.0.1650.63 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame
http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.co.uk/.

If you go to About in Chrome....if it hasn't already updated...it should do.
Then if you want to avoid any confusion, you should remove the older versions.

Hope it helps.......regards......mogs....
