Every time I run a full scan, Adobe Reader 8.x is listed as an insecure program. When I subsequently click the Re-scan Program button without changing anything else, it disappears from the list again. What is going on? The Updater component of Adobe Reader says there are no updates available. (Could this be a PSI bug?) |

The current version is 9. Try that and it maybe solved. I have no problems with 9.x.

Where does Secunia claim the insecurity is?
To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow there guidelines using the
ADVANCED interface:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Click on the + sign of the programme to “expand’ it.
* Click on Technical Details in the Toolbox to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.

Maurice:
I did the steps you listed, but I do not have Adobe 8.1.3 on my computer so thanks for your help but I am going to have to contact Secunia itself to see if I can have them tell me a way to get rid of this problem with their program. Thanks again Brian |

What Maurice is telling you :That one of your programs (Third Party install) is using that old version to be operable you need to find out what program has not updated itself to the new version Adobe. My suggestion would be to un-install all Adobe products go their site and begin the re-install of Adobe products "after" you see which program is outdated and you have re-installed it doing what Maurice has advised. If this doesn't work then some where along the line you have had an incomplete uninstall. My suggestion to this. WWW.revo-uninstaller.com it will hunt down the files that are left from the incomplete un-install causing the grief. This should clear the pc for your updates to work properly |

Step 1:verify what version adobe you have in add/remove - remove if out date current is 9.1
2. Go to Adobe .com and down load the new version
3. Make sure your browser is not advising any problems while down load is in progress. If you are using Mozilla disable no-script and cookie control all add-ons. Then verify the version you down loaded add/remove
If this fails do what Maurice advises in this forum and find out what file is still using the outdated version. Then update what it is.anti-spyware, virus, game then try to re-install. If this doesn't work you have had a incomplete uninstall and Adobe was not totally removed from p.c.. Down load revo-uninstaller find what it list is on your p.c. and uninstall following steps of revo. Then try to reinstall the updated version of Adobe Luck |
